Thanks T and Andy ! It's a very slow process this Viking bust, 1/12 scale is something completely different (read : difficult), but I'm having fun and satisfaction comes with every brush stroke.
I won't make it easy for me, things need to be OK, that's the only way to learn this branch of our modelling hobby.
I'm glad I can always count on you for advice and tips.
Andy his teeth look like a shooting range target, I'm sure yours look better LOL !
I look forward to start painting the mouth and teeth, gum...it shows the rage of the battle on his face.

The teeth look like yours, Deaf? Maybe I should make simmilar stuff in my next monster sculpt, maybe you say, hey, this fellow looks like me, too. MUHARR!
But you are right, the eyes are dead on and the whole project comes more and more to life. And I know, painting with oils is painstaking but worth the time. Looks ultragood!

Thanks guys ! I brushed on more paint and the burnt sienna base color is slowly getting covered. I think the hair will be ready tomorrow for more highlights and shadows, this still is quite basic stuff.

Starting to get some nice depth to the beard there AG. Andy may need to speak to his dentist!

Hi guys, yesterday I had a blast, the beard and hair are as good as done now and also the cloak was pushed towards its finish, let's say I need two more hours to get the cloak done... I'm trying to give it a bit of extra texture, this is great fun ! More soon, best regards ! AG.

Thanks Leon ! And thank you Tigrazor ! I tried your method on painting steel and I'm very satisfied with the result so far. I started by airbrushing thin mists of dark Humbrol enamel Gunmetal, followed by a lighter one, and I splatter sprayed on a Chrome to end with. Once dry I added a very fine metal pigment. I then brushed on very subtly a thin acrylic wash (Tamiya red brown + matt black + water). I still have to finish up the helmet but as said I'm quite satisfied with the look of it. Before I forget, I also gave the helmet a primitive look, by reworking the surface with files, needles and my scalpel (impacts of weapons). I hope you like it so far fellers ? Best regards ! AG.

Definitely looks like that helmet has been to the wars and back...multiple times! Nice touches on the wear and tear AG.

I don't think it's overdone at all Guy. Especially considering that the Vikings commonly scavenged things off the battlefield for everyday use.

Remove it? Are you crazy!? This looks superb, the hellmet is brilliant battleworn and weathered, no need to change that used look!

This is an original Viking relic helmet, as seen in a Historical museum in Scandinavia. * Below you can see Andy's jaw and teeth ! I think the texture's rough and suits the effects on my helmet. Best regards ! AG.

I agree AG, casting/forging technology was a lot rougher then (we are talking about the 800's BCE after all!) and you've captured the look nicely IMHO!

Youre welcome AG. WOW! Yep, that looks mighty fine. Maybe (but only if you like) some decent washes here and there to emphasize the battle damage, and thats it. Another very simple, but effective method for the last steps is the sponge method - after you brought on the washes, dip a small piece of a sponge in aluminum/chrome (depends on the look you want to achieve) and emphasize the lightest spots.

I stripped this fella fellas...
I'll give it another try and the Viking will rise again, it's a learning process and I'm not easily satisfied.
It was the hair and beard, I can't explain wat it was, I just didn't like the result.
I keep you posted, best regards ! AG
* no other project on the bench before this one will be beaten !

So let me get this straight....you stripped the bust? Well you certainly have conviction!! I was thinking he was looking the part for sure...but I am sure you will wrangle whatever demons in the finishes and get yourself straight with the project!! All about "learning" what to do and what you like!! Bring it on G!!

Thanks guys, it felt kinda sh*t the moment I started rubbing the paint but now I'm glad I made the decision.
I stripped the paint 100% and another Humbrol grey enamel was already applied to the bust.
My wife wants to give the hall a make over so that means for now not so much benchtime, I'll try to move on as fast I can.
Best regards ! AG.

Stripped?!?!? I respect your decision... sometimes you have to do it even tho we loved it. I am sure it will come out even better the way you are aiming for. The jaw? Can't be mine... those teeth looks better than mine!
