Thank you Leon, last night I did some research on medieval arrows and one arrow was built, which was quite fun. First I sanded down a strip of plastic to make it look more feathery, then it was cut into shape and three parts were glued onto a length of copper rod (in 1:1 scale this dart measures 70 cm.) I painted the arrow with Humbrol enamel as a primer, next to do is finish up the wood and flights with more enamels and oils. I decided to keep it with just one arrow in the shield. Scratches were made, totally by accident in the first place ! As it looks quite good I did more. More washes will be applied to make the shield look more interesting. Best regards ! AG.

DAMN! Love those scratches on the shield... would love to learn how to do this! Once the washes were dry, I accidently made a scratch on the shield with my scalpel, the underlaying lighter tones appeared and I liked it so I did a lot more, simple and quick Andy !

That's GREAT tip! I am gonna try that... sometimes accidents are good thing! This method can be very interesting to do if you're weathering the sideskirts of a tank for example.

Got to love the 'happy accident' for the scratches. The arrow is a nice touch and will definitely up the intensity of the figure's environment.

Wout, thank you, with the Humbrol metal paints it wasn't difficult to get the chainmail done.
Bill, thank you, I think the arrow adds more motion to the bust indeed.
Today I have made the grip of the shield and it will be painted the coming weekend so it will be glued onto the figure soon, but before that I still have to add some blood splatterings. The spear looks 'used' already, I made blood of Gloss varnish + oil paint red + burnt umber and with a sponge I dabbed it carefully onto the spearhead.
The cape still needs a bit more deep shadowing and highlighting, the end of this project however is near !
Best regards ! AG.

Slowly...because I'm gonna miss this little fella on my hobby bench. There's still a bit of painting to do (I think I can push it a little bit further) but I finally glued on the shield and the spear as everthing is in reach of my brushes. I already applied more shadows and highlights to the cape. The end of this thread is near ! Best regards ! AG.

Finish line approaches, a bittersweet moment when you know it will be done but will miss the project all the same. Looking good AG!

Thank you Bill and Leon, a new project (Kingdom of Heaven templar bust) will be started soon. Today I've brushed 'fresh blood' onto the shield and also the wood of the spear and arrow was done. A quick pic...final photos will follow later. Best regards ! AG.

Glad you stuck with this one through the different iterations AG! He turned out looking suitably nasty and brutish!
