Absolute top! Would love to see a close up of the figs, but beside the Car, the groundwork is brilliant. Great rocks and absolute believably done!

Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey...doubt that will happen down in El Paso but it was that reference of the "Brass Monkey...that Funky Monkey..." First one is a bit more nautical!! Outstanding job on the 24 pounder Bill!! I love these little kits!! Big FUN finishing up into a great display!! Well played my friend!!

Thanks Leon! Todd, you would be surprised...it can get pretty cold here from time to time...have seen it drop down into the teens or even single digits on rare occasions! It's funny about the brass monkey saying, most people don't know the true nautical origins to that statement...it really could happen if the temps changed enough since brass and iron contract at different rates. The dimples in the 'monkey' would shrink enough that the pyramids would collapse and scatter the cannon balls...hence the phrase. I really enjoyed working on it, first time I've ever done a wood kit. Pretty neat and satisfying little project! Now would I tackle something like the HMS Victory or USS Constitution in wood...probably not.

Number two was certainly a bit quicker than number one.

Dupes, that's for sure! For just a moment I was channeling your mojo speed on this one...but I can only take so much of that. ER, thanks as well my friend! Cool canon. I love how your builds have been so varied subject wise. Keeps things interesting. Jeff, it's something I've been doing more of the last couple of years in terms of occasionally branching out and doing something different. Avoids getting stuck in a rut but also presents some interesting challenges too! So far I haven't stretched the envelope too far to where it produces a disaster thankfully.

That little cannon looks lovely!!! Thanks Andy! I had a lot of fun working with it...but now I have to return to the world of styrene and work on the tracks for the JP IV project...oh the humanity!

Another beautiful entry to the gallery. The camo pattern is certainly a head turner for sure. You've really mastered the subtle and restrained weathering. Looks used but not abused. I enjoyed following along...now the important question...what's next?

Andy, that's not too hard to do...but you've got plenty of time still to catch up! Jimmy, thanks as always! Glad you enjoyed the build. As for what's next, I'm waiting for an anniversary gift from my wife in the form of the 1/350 USS Texas to arrive. While I wait for that, I might do one of the 1/72 Bandai Star Wars TIE Fighter kits that I have in the stash as a little quick 'filler' project.

Oh...my...gosh...you're building the Texas! Can't wait for that one...I haven't ordered it yet...but I am...and I'm terrified of ships...I just need to get that Titanic out of the way first...which I'm still scared to start..haha. I'll be watching that build for sure.

I had a hard time finding it in stock anywhere but got lucky with Scalehobbyist.

It seems to be one that's been on a lot of folks wish list for a while. Is probably selling well. SH seems to still have them in stock...and a good price too. Hmmm....

Thanks Wes! It seems to be one that's been on a lot of folks wish list for a while. Is probably selling well. SH seems to still have them in stock...and a good price too. Hmmm.... It's all in the name I guess and the fact that it's preserved as a museum ship. It's sister the USS New York has been out for a while but didn't seem to be nearly as popular. Which is a little funny because they are essentially the same kit just with slightly different markings. Grab it while you can, shipments from Chinese distributors may be held up for a little while as a result of that explosion in Tianjin and the resulting safety crackdown on ports. You never know...
