I could not find a picture...yet, but I did dig up this: Shows the bracket installed on the middle ring. I would think this could be an optional item judging by the amount of pictures of the tank without the item installed!

That explains a LOT.... I wonder what in the world it's for? And thanks, it's nice to be able to just concentrate on a clean assembly and not have to re-engineer something.

I've gotta get a handle on this thing...... About a dozen so far, I think..... haven't even looked at the turret yet. Orange Hobby Leo2A5 barrel showed up over the weekend, whoopie, more brass.

I'm doing this to myself.... brass is nice in places, but I don't even buy green bananas, I just don't have the time. I used most of the molded-on Tamiya tool clamps except for the saw and shovel blade holders. I also used the etched saw blade and holder, neat looking but what a pain. Anyway: I should be able to get on the turret soon, and thankfully there's not much brass left.

Thanks Bill. I wish there was a pill for my particular allergy. Until then, it's immunotherapy.

Some progress: Still remaining: smoke discharger caps with the little chains, antennae, tow cables, and maybe a couple small PE bits, then I do believe it's time for paint. I used the PE for the loader's MG but skated on the mounts for the grab handles on the front add-on armor, just didn't see the advantage there. I also need to Google up what the antenna mounts look like, see if I can use the Tamiya bases. I'm kind of curious here, since the kit has very short masts molded to the bases.

Thanks Leon, Mark. PE is from the devil! I wear two pairs of reading glasses to work with most of it, and end up with very tired eyes after about an hour.

Coming along nicely Russ! You may want to look into an Optivisor vs. the reading glasses...the flip-up variety can do wonders for avoiding eye fatigue when working with the small stuff.

You're right Bill. I just need to pony up and spend the money, rather than buy more AM, magazines, paints, Evergreen, ..... well, you can see (ha ha, that just happened) my problem.

I got mine at Harbor Freight a few years back for $10 or so IIRC. Not as fancy as the ones Dierk posted but they do the job and are comfortable.

I need to go to Harbor Freight, big time. So Karl-Heinz is gathering his crew for their new tank, ready to go to the paint shop: I accidentally deleted the pic of the smoke dischargers with all the chained caps on, but they look good, one instance where the etch really helped.

Thanks guys. Color will be interesting. Plan is to start with green, which looks to me a lot like a light version of Russian 4bo, then add the brown and black. I'm still undecided on whether to mask and spray or brush the last two. I've had really good results with Vallejo and a brush, may do that.

Holy paint, Batman! I actually had a few minutes the other morning, and thought "hey, I can paint something!" So I shot the base color, Tamiya IJA green. It's pretty "green", but it's un-washed....
