Hello Bill, Thank you for the compliment. I have since been told that once the side skirts are on that the gap will not be visible. I erred on the side of caution. Greetings Leon, Thank you as always for the compliment and support. Hello Andy, Thank you my friend. What's not to love about a Dremel Tool? Greetings Carl, Thank you good sir. While out at the bench yesterday, I was leaning more toward finishing this beastie as an Iraqi tank. I was looking at the rubber skirts and….wait a minute…that just sounds all sorts of wrong….ugh. Anywho…..I was thinking of how they'd look weathered up after baking in the desert sun for a while. Yup! Iraqi tank. Dave

Hello Bill, I certainly will. It'll offset the OD in the display cases. Dave

The bench was idled due to a myriad of other things going on around here. I got the rear deck linkage done The bell crank. IT was constructed of 9 parts. The brown part attached to the bell crank at the lower left, is half of a injection molded turnbuckle.
The white bushing to hold the rod is a piece of drilled out 0.035" styrene rod. The brackets at the aft end of the deck, to hold the rod were scratched from styrene stock. The PE parts, though nice in profile, were way too thin. They did serve as rather nice templates. Dave

Hello Andy, Thank you my friend. It was a great time at the bench. The rod with the flanges just about put me around the bend. Apparently I did not make the proper sacrifice to the soldering deities. A fiddly part it was.
Hello Tojo72, Thank you very much. It's getting there.
Hello Leon, Thank you as always for the compliment and having a gander.
Hello Bill, Thank you for the compliment. There was a time when I was gaga for PE stuff. I certainly has it's place. Just not all the time.
Dave

Good morning Luigi, Thank you as always for the compliment and for having a gander. Sorry for the delay. The great weather is holding on just a bit longer in these parts and, as a result I am making the most of it outside. The tradeoff is the bench goes idle. There'll be an update later today. There are a few things I want to tackle today. Like fuel lines….lets see how it goes. Dave

Don't tell me, here the temps are still in the upper 20s/lower 30s (C) so it's hard to sit at the bench for a long time. Take your time, enjoy the open air, I will be here waiting for an update

Hello Terry, Thank you very much. Glad you like it. Hello Luigi, Yeah….about that update….No plan survives contact with the enemy. Today looks to be more of the same. There are projects that must get done before the Pacific Northwest Rain Festival kicks off….Actually we need the rain. We are waaaaay below average for the year. Dave

Nice job on the parts recovery Dave...always amazes me how energetic/aerodynamic plastic parts can be under the right circumstances!

Thank you Andy. Oh holy smoke Bill! You're not kidding . Unfortunately no bench time thus far. Lots of stuff to take care of both here and out of town. I'm blocking out some time this Friday and Saturday for some bench time. What I got done the other day was prepping the MK tracks. It turns out that they ALL have two EP marks that will need filling. I was hoping the scrape them with a #10 scalpel blade. No such luck. Now would be a good time to up the Thorazine dosage. Dave

The bench is not idle. I've just had my frontal lobes removed to complete the following task without loosing my mind. I opted to use MK tracks for this kit as opposed to Fruils, since this beastie has return rollers and is not a dead link track, where the Fruils would be great for. These were about half the price of Fruils, with the trade off being clean up. After shattering two links using sprue cutters, out came the razor saw. Quick work but, it left three nibs to sand off the track link. There are a lot of track links….you see where this is going and, why the frontal lobes were electively removed. During this whole process I noticed that all of the links have EP marks either side of the guide horn. I'm getting ahead of myself first, here's what I have thus far. The box on the left has the sanded links. The box on the right….well….not sanded. The set comes with two track jigs. The link with the white on it, I used liquid paper for filler. It was as I had feared. It shrunk so badly that the EP mark essentially remains. The link with the red dots, had Bondo used on them. These have already been sanded down. Not contest as to which I'll use. Now to make up a sanding jig so as not to obliterate the slightly raised detail at the ends of the links. Now I just need to make sure that I do not misplace my lobes. Dave

MK's are my usual go-to tracks for workables Dave but they do have the clean-up downside no matter which type of track you're using. Looks like you've got a good system designed for dealing with them however! As for the lobes, just be sure you place them in carefully marked right-left bins...can't have any fit issues in that department!

Good morning Andy, It's going to be a hoot filling all of those EP marks. Why Tony! It's grand to hear from you. It's the stuff that I used on my Tigercat. The stuff wet sands wonderfully. Thank you. Good morning Brother, Who knew….Modern Soviet green would end up on my bench? Good morning Bill, This is my second go around with MKs. My first was for a Sherman Firefly. I went into using these MKs with eyes wide open. So, the need for clean up was not a great surprise. As to the lobes, it might be an interesting trial run to "cross install" them. Dave

Good evening Luigi, Thank you kindly for the compliment. Here are the first twenty eight links of a track run….. The next fourteen….. The remaining 146+……to sand and, assemble….and occasionally fix with the wee pin breaks. Dave
