I'll be mixing it up with a short run of track……something on the hull…….short run of track……something on the hull…….ad nauseam. Trying to decide between the couple of beers or a couple of Scotches I'be got in the cupboard. They will be quite nice when complete. That being said, I'll need to be careful when running out the tension on the idler. Theres not much purchase with the pins holding the track together. Dave

You nailed it Luigi. Canopies, I'm ok with. Wing roots can give me fits. Hello 4bogreen, Thank you for the compliment. I'm slogging away on the tracks still. I have 1 run done up in short sections. The sanding is taking a bit of time. No point in posting pics for that….it would be like "hey! Look! Another track sanded!" They all really do look the same after the first dozen. There will be about 15 dozen by the time I'm done. Dave

Looking good Dave! Tracks can be tedious for sure! Personally I try and bang them out before I even start a build if not use it as filler to break things up in the build! Keep up the great work!!

Good afternoon T, Thank you kindly for the compliment. I kinda figured there would be a bit more work with the MK's. I must have hit my head at some point as I didn't even think about the EP marks. Let's see…..94 links per run. Two runs. 188 links. Two EP marks per link. 376 spots to sand. Not including extra links. Ugh! I promise to pay more attention next time. Meh….it is what it is. After completing one run of track, I decided that it was high time to do something different. Like playing with the RB barrel. You can see the plastic barrel above the tank. All I needed was the mantlet. There was hole drilled behind the mantlet, which is what is supporting the barrel. The grab handle that was molded was a wee slab of plastic. Nope! That will not do. Wire+Grab Handler=Much better. I used black CA glue to replicate weld marks. There was a blank area around the commanders cupola. This was filled in with an Eduard PE part. The only thing to say about the join between the turret ring and the turret body is UGLY!. Out came the Bondo. There were a couple of other spots that were ugly but, nothing like this area. Looks like there is a bit more filling to do. Dave

Sounds like you've hit on a good plan regarding the MK tracks...have to break up the monotony or it can be a real motivation killer! Nice progress here Dave.

Good evening Andy, Sanding and shaping the turret was quite enjoyable. I applied some Mr Surfacer to texture the surface. I'll get some pics up later of the work I've done on the turret.
Good evening Bill, Yeah. It was starting to grind on me. That's why I opted for working on the turret. A nice change.

Good morning brother, That's what happens when you keep a buhjillion plates up and spinning. No worries brother. Ya found it. There will be bench time this weekend. Most likely the lions share will be tomorrow. I'll post some updates then. Mostly turret work going on of late. Today looks to be a lot of dads taxi service. Dave

Good morning Tojo72, Thank you for the compliment. Not so much brutal as freakin' mind numbing. That being said, it'll pay off when I get them painted and weathered. Dave

Today was a good day to work on the wiring for the dazzler and the smoke launchers. Out came the trusty lead wire, Grandt Line bolts, and styrene. The areas where the conduit is tacked down, I used black CA glue. The smaller of the wires is for the main light. I left it long simply to make sure there is plenty when the light is mounted. I added a couple of Grandt Line bolts to the back side of the launchers. These were shown on some walk around pics. The wire leads are not attached yet, as I am waiting for the glue to cure for the launchers. Then I can stretch the lead wire and tack down the ends. Dave

Good morning Andy, Thank you for the compliment my friend. Ya gotta love lead wire…that reminds me! I'm going to need to stop by the fly fishing store for more lead wire. Good morning Bill, Thank you as always for stopping by and for the compliments. It really helps me keep my sanity. Only another modeler would get it. Good Morning Dan b, Thank you good sir for the compliment. It's a great base kit for OOB or gonzo detailing….or some happy medium in-between. The site I've been using is here: www.primeportal.net/the_battlefield_armor.htm They have a lot of great walk around pics. Good morning Bob, Thank you my brother. Yeah, there are times that the association between my cheese and cracker gets a bit slippery…sometimes there is a near complete dissociation between the two. Dave

More work done on the turret. The snorkel was mounted after I added Bronco Wingnuts. Tie downs were added using phosphor brass wire and, attached using black CA glue. Here is a better shot of the wing nuts. Also, instead of using PE for the lower mounts for the basket, I scratched them using my trusty styrene stock. I did repurpose the PE chain for the pins. The right side basket mount. It got a bit crowded on the turret but it all worked out. The side shields for the range finder were replaced with styrene. The kit ones weren't quite up to the task. The PE ones were under scale but, they served as a good template. The range finder was initially just a blank hole. I scratched the lens and frame around it. The frame had a rivet roller taken to it to represent screw heads. Impossible to photograph but, when painted and pin washed they should reappear. Dave

The third time is a charm. As evidenced by the fact it took me that many times to get the commanders search light mount right today. I opted for the scratch build brass option, as the other methods might just snap off merely by looking at it. That's not going to do. You can kinda see the linkage for elevation and depression of the light from within the beastie. The linkage rod is made from phosphor brass wire bent and a coil of wire at the base of the wire. This is probably the best view of what was accomplished today. Dave
