Dupes' 2016 Completions #41+#42 Dec 31. Done!

Next up - the Esci 1/35 M60A3 kit. Wanted to go straight OOB, but the link-and-length tracks were dicey at best. Decided to grab a set of vinyl runs out of an Academy kit that I have Friuls for...fit perfectly. This is a green (not OD) training vehicle from Germany in 1991. As such, I decided that it would probably see the motor pool hose pretty frequently, so went with light washing and drybrushing (versus the caked on dirt and dust the M107 got). Only markings on this vehicle was a placard on either side for field ops - everything else had been painted over.

Same! I did the M60A1 in Desert Storm tan livery about nine years ago...now I've got this one in OD. Looks like I'll need to track down the new M60A2 "Starship" kit Dragon is putting out and do it in the MERDC scheme to get the entire run of variants and paintjobs!

I warned you guys...that hard "show deadline" has got me off my butt and into weathering and finishing mode.

Next up - the Tamiya M577. This is an M113-chassis command vehicle done in U.S. Army in South Korea markings. Another OOB build. Would have liked a better set of tracks, but with those skirts you can barely see them anyway. I have no recollection of when I built this...should give you a good idea of how long it's been on my shelf of doom! About time I got another M113 variant in the case.

Oh - the big slabs on the side are wooden platforms, ostensibly used to set up a field HQ in soft/muddy conditions. I've heard that their use was pretty rare, and to be honest I can't find a lot of pics of them. I'm choosing to believe Mr. Tamiya this time around!

Nothing wrong with that when they're all ending up as magazine articles! I'm sure I'd slow down quite a bit if I were doing more in depth projects, too.

I do build quite a bit. It helps that I have a very seasonal business which gives me a lot of spare time in the winter. Of course, I don't make any money, but I have spare time! The bi-monthly build nights in my basement with the guys from my club help out a bunch as well. So does the secondary bench I keep (well, that the wife lets me keep) in the living room in front of the tv helps out even more. Multitasking for the win!

LOL I tried the kitchen table bit (I have a go box that I bring to work with me) but unfortunately... the 3 year old and the 1 year old are guarenteed to break my concentration so much if I try it that its not worth the trial

Yeah, I hear you there. For me it's mostly when the wife and I are watching tv shows or a movie.

Although, my 2.5 frequently rolls up to the bench and asks "what you making, Daddy?". I'm getting him started eaaaarly!

Depending what I pick to build for the rest of the year, there's a very good chance. Got two more on the bench that will be done today or tomorrow...after one quarter, that puts me right on for 50. Just got to keep my hands off of the 1/32 A-10 that's been calling my name lately. Hahaha.

Alrighty, got two wrapped up today. First up - the Revell Germany P-47M kit in 1/72 done up as "Devastatin' Deb". For the ten bucks retail they're asking for it, I'd say it's very worth it! Built out of box.

Lucky Number 13 is the Tamiya P-47M in 1/48 done as "Darling Dottie/Shoot You're Faded". Man, this is a hot kit. Built at the same time as the Revell offering for painting efficiency (it worked out pretty well, actually). Going to be doing more of these for sure!

Another shelf queen down! This is the 1/32ish-scale ERTL Darth Vader TIE. Possibly the worst fitting kit that I've actually completed (versus throwing in the trash). Did my best to get it together and painted up...but I'd call it "rough" at best. The features are so toy-like, I decided to turn it into a toy (see last pic!).
