Thank you Leon. More done to choo choo... Take a look at the tail lights on this reference photo. I was thinking of a way to create the same look and then I came up with this... See you ! AG.

Not boring at all my friend! I love trains and had a huge N scale railroad layout about 6 years ago.

Thank you Wout. Today is modelling time, I'm having a good time with this locomotive kit, strange because we already get loco overdosed on the job !

LOL ! Our 800's are weathered enough me thinks ! Grease, dust'n dirt from the early 70's until today collected by the tons, and believe me, the toilets are covered too, it's a scandal and this in 2016 ! Luckily the graffitti artists 'art' works prevent them from rusting till the bone ! How long will it last like this ?
Btw. I'm assembling and painting the headlights, it's more time consuming than I thought but I'm getting there.

The most annoying thing is that they are overhauling them and I don't like 'm for one bit...better to set fire to all of them Long time since I saw you at a platform in Brussels Sorry for our Belgian railroad jibberish to everyone else lol Cheers

Hi Wout, we (depot of Essen) don't do trains to Brussels often, so we should put our agendas together and see if we can meet for a good chat and of course...a Duvel ! The headlights are ready to be glued onto the locomotive. In fact, they're already glued on and now I'm working on the ladder. I'll see if I can make a pic larter today... Best reg's ! AG.

Andy, you're a modeler and you won't have the power to resist that, it's good to read you're feeling the itch to fire up the hobby. I know sooner or later you will make us very happy again with your work. Small update, the brake tubes on the front were glued on. These are painted in their base colors, ready for the coming weathering stages. The photo below also shows the headlights installed and completed with their wiring. When you take a good look you can see a black socket with the headlight bulb. Btw. the brake tubes were shortened because they were too long, I cut 2mm away and glued them back together. Now they sit as seen on my reference photos. Two handles were made of plastic rod and added to the air taps. The stepladder is glued in place and ready for some weathering action. Thanks for jumping by, best regards ! AG.

Hi Leon, there's a lot more to add if you want to make this model look 100% accurate. I picked the most important details and decided to scratch them as they're not too difficult to make.
Now it's window time, where's the Microscale white glue ?!
Update soon, especially for you Leon LOL!

Thanks Bill and Leon, you keep me going !
I'm sorry for not posting an update with photos.
I've been working on the model for many hours since my last update but I din't take the time to make in progress pics due to my mojo burst. You probably know when it comes to weathering I really get into the zone LOL !
Dust weathering on a shiny black surface is delicate and time consuming and totally different on a train model. So I'm spending a lot of time to study reference photos and the real stuff at work (Wout don't tell our bosses lol). To obtain the desired effects I combine the dust washes with very diluted paint layers airbrushed onto the panels.
On a black locomotive the details won't pop out after adding a dark wash so that was I step I could skip. A pin wash with a dust wash however...makes them details like rivets and hatches nothing but swing, even if it's done with a toned down wash.
Tomorrow I'll try to push it towards the finish but it will take some more sessions to completely get it done. Today I've spotted two scratched parts with the wrong look so these had to be removed and replaced (the two supports on the engine compartiment hatches on top).
I'm still going good sirs !
Best regards ! AG.

Nice update on the brake lines Guy. And I won't tell the bosses Since I ever did a rusty wrecked T-62 I constantly look at rust and flaked paint at work LOL. Same goes for clothing...since I sculpted figures I can't quite look at clothes as I did before Glad you are completely in the zone. Enjoy and I really look forward to see the update...heck even the Loco in the flesh maybe one day Cheers

Hi Guy Sorry for not being around much but our house move has taken up a lot of time (and money ). I've just been through all the updates since I last checked in and I have to say that you've done a stunning job on the loco!!!! I can't wait to see how the full dio turns out!!! By the way how is Toady getting on? Has the base made any progress? All the best. Andrew

Andrew, no worries man, we're all busy people no ? The coming weeks I will do a bedroom makeover so there won't be much modeling time then. First I want to nail this choo choo ! I focused on the front plate the past weathering sessions. The hook was done with a mixture of Humbrol matt black + metal pigment powder, it works so well I still have to tone down the metal a bit, I will use rust pigment wshes for that purpose. The panel weathering was done with AK Winter streaking grime + burnt umber oil paint + white spirit. I pinwashed with a thicker mixture of this wash. The brake tubes were finished with Humbrol paint. *** Dierk, thank you fella, the lil' bag was filled with weathering magic ! ACW, best regards !
