I'd say you had a nice solid foundation to work from there Jeff! Doesn't surprise me that there's yet another 'true shade' discussion/debate out there...why should the French schemes be immune? Uh, uh, can I start it? can I? can I? puh-leeease....

Got a little touching up to do but first camo colour is down. Really not looking forward to masking the brown because it appears to be a pretty finicky job. Played around a little more with Ammo paints. I still prefer Tamiya and Gunze, but they are better then I anticipated. Just fooling around with them with my single action brush. Out of the bottle no thinning. Probably will experiment with these more in the future. Thanks for looking. Jeff

I love these French WWII tanks...they look so different. And Tamiya has great renditions of them. Nice build so far. And great start on the paint, like the first stage!
Cheers

Well, technically it's the second color, but we know what you mean. Good job on the green. What airbrush are you using?

Thanks for the encouragement. I used to be pretty exclusive to WWII Commonwealth stuff, but for some reason I keep adding more French subjects to the stash. Early French vehicles seems to have a quirky charm. Well, technically it's the second color, but we know what you mean. Good job on the green. What airbrush are you using? Um yes I guess that would be the 2nd colour. Airbrush wise I'm using a Iwata M1. I just sold my old dual action Badger 105 because I was getting better detail work done with the Iwata. I have a Hp-b+ in the mail. Can't wait to give that one a workout. Cheers Jeff

Ready to shoot some paint under this 40 pounds of tape and silly putty. And results. Still needs some touch ups but it's looking not too bad so far. I'll break out the brushes and see how this Ammo stuff brush paints to fix some small mistakes. From there I should have a pretty good idea if I can brush paint the turret or if I have a nightmare of a masking job ahead of me. Thanks for looking. Jeff

That looks like it turned out pretty good. I'm sure if you thin the paint down, and build it up in layers, you shouldn't have a problem brush painting it.

Thanks for the comments. I've never had Andy fall in love with one of my builds before. It feels like that's a right of manhood around here. Jeff

Turret is painted and it's the worst. The scheme is pretty loud and it's only going to get louder when the red, white and blue markings get added. I have to keep reminding myself that the weathering should tie together the paint job. I just recently started making the base coats brighter so after weathering it sort of lands where it needs to, but when it looks like this I always worry if I've made a mess of it. Thanks for looking and wish me luck. Jeff

Nice work...... If you close your eyes and listen carefully you can almost hear it rumbling across the fields near Arras......

Looks good to me. You could try misting heavily diluted - whatever the buff colour is called - over the model, should help tie it all together and tone down the contrast between the different colours?

It's still a work in progress so don't let the loudness distract you! Just wear ear plugs. Weathering always toned it down, looking good so far!

Thanks for the encouragement. Brett Green had a S35 build in one of the Tamiya magazines a while back where he recommended shooting tamiya buff thinned down 1:9 with thinners. Seeing how Dierk came in with a similar opinion I gave that a shot. Before After This at least feels like it's heading in the right direction. I'll try to get a gloss coat down for decals in the next couple days and keep moving along. Thanks for looking. Jeff

Your heading in the right direction Jeff! The buff did the trick.
