I was going to suggestthe diluted buff but Brett beat me to it It does start the pulling together process. And don't worry about Andy. He's fickle and likely already making googly eyes at another tank. Soon he'll call and say he has to work late and come's home with someone else's track grease on his collar.

Nothing like a good old-fashioned mist coat to help tie things together and tone it down a bit. Looking good Jeff! As for Marc's story about Andy, I can validate that...happens every time!

Back again. Tax time was a killer and kept me away from the bench. Finally got the decals on. The kit decals weren't really opaque enough. On the numbers and roundels if you look close, the camo colours sort of peak through. The unit insignia just sort of looks like a sticker. Tamiya decals are always kind of a pain, but I was really hoping on a new release they'd be a little better. On the upside I finally found a clear varnish (Ammo) and decal system (Mr. Softer/Setter) I really like. CAn't wait to finally get into the weathering stage. Thanks for looking Jeff

Back at the bench. Got the rest of the smaller details painted and began my first round of weathering. Still a ways to go, but glad to be making some progress. Assembled and primed the tracks and hope to paint them tomorrow. I think they took 45 minutes to assemble in total. I wish Tamiya made similar sets for more popular vehicles. Thanks for checking in. More slow progress. Not a lot of bench time to be found with my two little guys running around the house. Still more weathering and detail work to be done, but it's nice to be getting closer to the finish line on this one. Hopefully I can keep get some new updates in the near future. Thanks for looking. Thanks for the comments guys. I'm enjoying the build and plan on starting a base for it in the near future. I wish all tracks went together as quickly as this tamiya click sets did. Looking really good Jeff! "two little guys running around the house" - cable-ties applied strategically will slow them down Take care Jeff

Wow, nearly a month since an update. A few weeks back I noticed I didn't paint the taillight on the S35 so broke out my trusty Ammo crystal red which I love. What I didn't love was the bottle popping in my hand covering my model, monitor and some job related paperwork in shiny red paint. The model needed a slight repaint on one side and the monitor was saved with a thinner soaked q-tip. But bringing documents back to work covered in what looks like Hollywood prop blood will land you the nickname "killer" for about a week. It was a lot of work just to get back to where I was, but at least I was able to paint a figure. For some reason the leather jacket and blue turtleneck make me think of undercover cop in a movie from the 70's. Next up is figuring out what I want to do with the base. I'm thinking either city street with a brick wall behind it, or a french farm. Really enjoying the build but beginning to hit that part of the build where I'm excited to start the next project. Thanks for looking. Jeff

Nice recovery Killer I think it'll take longer than a week to get rid of the name here! (if ever) I know how you feel though - as soon as a project nears completion I'm itching to crack open another box. Shelf-Queen-o-rama around my place.

'Killer' Jeff has a nice ring to it! Glad you could salvage it...I would've been ready to spill some real blood after an incident like that.

Hi again. Thought I'd finally take a stab at creating a base loosely inspired by this photo. I thought the cobblestone street with the dirt sidewalk was interesting for an urban setting. Since I've never done cork brick scratchbuilding I decided to skip the window and make the wall a simpler 6ft wall with a concrete covered wall cap. I'll never be a mason, but the brick was a fun project. Though I think I need to find a source for better cork. Thanks for checking in. Jeff
