Your comments are most appreciated guys. Here is what the turret looks like, just trying diff back drops to see what works best, and the settings. Will try to get an hour in today on this before I head out at 5pm.

Since the weather was great today I thought I'd finally wash all the salt off my car and also get a start on spring clean up around the house........BUT I also got a bit of bench time in as well. Started the first of many earth effects weathering. A lighter dust/dirt coat sprayed on using LifeColor railcar weathering set and light dust. One of the hardest things to do with light colored vehicles is to depict dust and other earth effects. The light dust and earth colors used on darker vehicles blend in with the base Gelb and is hard to make it stand out. So I am going with darker earth tones and more of the gray-green dust and dirt. A walk around my car and the dirt areas around the house gave me enough ref and inspiration. Still lots more to come.

Thank you kindly fellas, just having a bit of fun with this one and trying new and old techniques I haven't used for a while. Couldn't sleep late last night, what else is new, so I hit the bench for an hour and applied another layer of effects. I also added some more micro chipping. Here are two teaser pics. Next will be more effects using oils and enamels, then back to acrylics. The lighter effects and rain marks above were done with AK acrylic dust color thinned and used like oils.

Thanks fellas. Marc I'm trying to get back to the more intact models, some knocked out but more intact like the Tiggy.
jackwagon I thinned them maybe 30% water, there abouts. I like to apply light misted coats to be able to vary the opacity as seen on the Tiger. I wanted a dust coat but still showing some of the camo underneath.
OK gonna go work on the rear section with chipping and other weathering effects. By doing one or two sections at a time you can vary the effects and keep it from being too uniform. Then I may work on the wheels or exhausts.

Great dusting Rob, you're right on the light colors, they're difficult to combine with dust, but you did it flawless !

Cheers matey - I too really like yer (temporary) departure from the all-out wrecks - don't get me wrong yer wrecks are eye-poppers and no mistake but I think yer in-service vehicles allow a much wider range of skills to be displayed LOL, thanks jackwagon. I've been doing more of these as of late as I slowly got tired of the rust buckets. I'd like to do more intact vehicles and bases, but concentrating more on the weathering aspect of both. Thanks for dropping in fellas. Charging the camera (time for new batteries, these don't hold the charge anymore) and will take a few pics of the progress so far.
