So, I rarely if ever take on a commission build. Mostly because I don't think my stuff is that worthy.... Sadly, that's the truth. But, a good friends wife asked me to do a Christmas present build for her husband my very good friend, SO.....................
The friend, like me is a huge John Wayne/Western movies fan. So I thought about what's out there kit wise, what I have in my stash, what I could reasonably be expected to complete by the holidays..... and I came up with a 1/15th Scale Gatling Gun circa the 1880's. I am starting with the Palmer Models 1958 Post Civil War Gatling Gun. PLEASE NOTE this kit is a PILE.... it's not even close to being in the "ball park" of accurate. I honestly think it's a combination of two major variants. Civil War and Post Civil War versions. Anyway, the biggest discrepancy is scale, it's billed as 1/24th...HA, it scales out to roughly 1/15th. That being said I am using it as a scale template, you know some place to start........ Here is the beginning:

C-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-cool! Reminds me of the PC-Game "Total War: Fall of the Samurai", where you get to battle with Gatling guns against Katanas.

OK, here is my lil update for today..... BUT FIRST.... I wanted to rant, shake my fists at and against the now defunct Palmer Models. But then through "harmony" and breathing excersizes.... I embraced the fact that this kit was produced LONG BEFORE most of us were even born!!!!!!!!! Now despite this it's still a steaming PILE. Talk about the "dark ages" of models...gaddsssssssssssss Here is what I was able to knock out today:
