It is bending to your will! You probably would have been better of starting from scratch. Could not have been much more difficult than turning this sow's ear into the silk purse you are creating.

Joel, you are right on track..... I'm at about 85% scratch right now. Only the wheels are from the kit. And soon those are gonna be redone.

So, I have been super-duper busy with life stuff. So this is my first update in a lil while...... Been working on the stowage/Ammunition boxes, which anyone who has been kind enough to follow my builds knows..... I LOVE TO BUILD BOXES....now in another life, I said I always add a box to my builds as sort of a signature thingee. WELL, please note that these aren't just randomly added, the actual 1880's G-gun had boxes on the limber.... who knew?

Bill "ain't that the truth" LOL Here is some super-detailing. The ammo can will be burnished with brass, so I gave it a flat metallic base.

Thanks Dierk. So some of you out there might remember that painting guy on PBS, you know the "happy tree/cloud" guy. He was an AWESOME artist.... BUT I always thought, (because he had to kill an entire hour of broadcasting), he went too far. You know adding too many clouds or trees or whatever. Shep Paine spoke of balance versus symmetry. Adding the right balance of stuff to the model, dio, or whatever. For me I think I hit that wall today. I really want to add a box for spare barrels or cleaning equipment..... BUT I really think it's tooooooooo much. You be the judge, and feel free to pipe up with thoughts

I think you are still heading in the right direction my friend! Balance works in the absence of symmetry, but the devil is in the detail! This is looking fantastic...honestly. You will know when it is time to stop.........or you won't, but I am sure of one thing...it will look stupendous when you cross the finish line!

So, this isn't a picture of my first model...LOL LOL it's my attempt to give what will be the final wood grain depth. The technique HAS worked on smaller wood projects....so we shall see.
