Okay, I didn't get a picture, but it was a bonafide sighting of a redneckess looney tuneium. Went to the local doghnut shop to get well, you know....and when I came out this specimen, diplaying his colorful plumage of shorts, Hawaiian style shirt, shades and a brimmed hat, was coming in. We shared a "Good Morning" and then he began to sing the song of his people..."Man its hot. You know the government does this. It was a 107 in Georgia yesterday. All them airplanes in the sky criss-crossing leaving all ..." at that point. I got in my car and left. I should have said, "Yes, we know. And your name is?"
They walk among us.

Joe, when my wife and I first saw our pickup on a lot in Temple, Texas, she couldn't climb in. It's a 2002 Ford FX4 4x4 and sits pretty high, and her legs aren't long. We had to return the next day with a stepstool! 😄 Part of our deal for the truck was having the dealer install a "step rail" along the sides! 😊

My wife’s got short legs as well and when we purchased my 2014 Silverado a few months back the previous owner put a leveling kit on it raising the front to match the already high rear of the vehicle to make it look like a 4wd. It’s a TWO wheel drive folks. It was pretty high up so I dropped the front of the vehicle back down to stock height and installed a leveling kit in the rear dropping it two inches which dropped the truck down two inches all the way around. Now……you don’t have to CLIMB up into and fall out of the truck AND it looks better all the way around.

A good pic of "El Rojo", aka "La Bamba II", out at our airport a few years ago. With 177,000+ miles and 22 years, the old gal is starting to show her age now. 😟

Thanks, Joe! That’s the original “La Bamba”! 😄 She was a 1975 FLH 1200 with a SuperGlide frontend. Those straights were LOUD, too, and could be heard for blocks when really pushed. She ran like a jet (well, for an old Shovelhead Harley, that is ! ) and looked pretty good all cleaned up. I bought it from a previous owner back around 1983 or '84, iirc. I sold it to a friend around '88. I wasn't riding it much and I didn't want my son, Carson, wanting one when he got older. He enjoyed riding with me on La Bamba, first sitting on the tank and then behind dad but I didn't want him on his own. Good thing too, based on his later habit of wrecking cars and getting tickets! 😁
Some of his later work; he bought an LT1 350 with 6-speed and dropped it into this Sonoma. Phase one ended like this:
Same sweet ride, before the fall:
And in-progress pics from Phase II, still incomplete as of now.
All this work was years ago. He got it running again and had a slight mishap on the way to a car show-a wheel fell off! 😁 He had many other ideas, of course, but ran out of money back then. Now, he has the car at his house, in his 5,000 sq.ft. metal shop, along with his many other projects! Oy vey! Would you believe, that shop's too small now!?!? He's now a mechanical engineer so perhaps another "rebirth" is near! 😊
This pic, in our old driveway, was taken the night I brought her home. I had a rub-raw with a neighbor lady over the noise...within 10 minutes of pulling into the drive. 😏

This is Fiat 750 converted into ice cream stand. It was an iconic car in former Yugoslavia, affordable, durable, race car, most of us learned to drive on it...omnipresent and legendary. I took this photo last year on our visit to Montenegro, city of Herceg Novi.

When my wife and I first started dating, she drove a '63 4-door hardtop Impala 327, two-tone brown. We took her car to a nearby town one night for a dinner date and it over-heated. 😁 It was in great shape and of course, she, along with our gear-head son, wishes she had kept that one! The car in the pic is a beauty! 👍

A whole family of Super Bugs (2 F's and 3 E's) right outside my office early this morning. The E in the center of the 3 had a radome that was MUCH darker than the rest of the aircraft. My office is the windows at the top of the hangar in the background of the first pic.

Awesome pics. Such a fan of the F-18 and it's crazy main landing gear. I'll be bummed when the F-18 and F-16 get retired.

Thanks! Yup...gotta love that landing gear for the controlled crash of a carrier landing. Given the performance of the F-35 so far, I'm thinking we shouldn't have to worry too much about the bugs and vipers going away any time soon. Heh...even the old BUFF is outdoing its much younger replacements, and the newest one of those was built in 1961.

Oh, and I forgot the F-15. Out here in AZ it looks like Luke AFB is transitioning from F-16s to F-35s for Airforce pilot training.
