There were two big fires that started near Ramona. The Cedar fire in 2003 and the Witch Creek fire in 2007. I was living in Scripps Ranch and the Cedar fire burned 300 or so of my neighbors houses. I was lucky.

At a local beer festival I finally got a real close look at MATV yesterday... I think I WANT to buy one someday! I took many pictures and I will share in a new thread when I have the chance.
I really need pics of that. I have the Panda Models kit and there are ZERO color callouts. I know a good portion of it is sand color but I need pics of the underside/suspension.

I swapped out the SD cards in all three gam cams at Brokenoak a couple days ago. Both of my game feeders are empty and need some upkeep at the moment but the one out in the pasture did provide some interesting pics. The photos went back several weeks, back before the corn ran out so there were beaucoup whitetails hanging around it, including one nice 8-point buck and a few yearling bucks too, so that's good news for future hunting out there. Here's that buck at the pond feeder, back on my 71st birthday; the electrically charged cage can just barely be seen above him (more about that further down):
But of course, there were other "guests" on display as well. SD cards from both feeders had pics of large sounders of feral hogs; this group was in the pasture several times:There was also a fox passing through:And a running coyote in the mix:
We've had a lot of problems with raccoons taking corn from the feeders. They are mostly nocturnal, but I did manage to shoot two in the afternoon a couple years ago. That barely slowed them down. My late hunting buddy, Geral Johnson, and I tried many different methods to prevent them from climbing the feeder legs and spinning the feeder until it was empty. I even have a pic somewhere of a coon up in the feeder mechanism, working the feeder with corn raining down on hogs below. Damned animals working together! 😄 We finally stopped them by building a wire cage around the spinner and wiring that to a solar-powered electric fence charger. One zap from that was enough to dissuade them! But that device is only on one feeder; the other still gets it share of coon visits; in fact, they pulled a wire out that will need replacing before it came be used again. Here's a couple:
And somewhat unusual, here's a skunk trundling along too:
Sometimes we see an armadillo or two around the place but never around the feeders. And I'm still hoping to catch a glimpse of the mountain lion in the neighborhood, but they are extremely elusive. A gentleman about two miles away did get a great pic of the big cat on his game cam though, so there is a chance.
I'll finish up with someone very dear to me that I also find out there "in the wild" sometimes; here's our oldest grandson, Johnny Huerta, checking out the feeder on his ATV, back in March. Heh, heh, remember that name because I believe you'll be hearing it a lot when he reaches the MLB. That boy is a good baseball player!! 😁 🥰

Looks like the wildlife we have running around here minus the hogs. We still have a cougar that frequents the area now and again. It's been caught on a few "Ring" cameras

I was thinking "dang...he don't wanna let that crown go, those antlers should be on the ground by now"...then I saw the date! Good stuff...as always! I really wish we could feed/bait up here. It was banned baiting(for hunting) for about 3-4 years, in the early 2000's. They allowed it again, because the population outgrew the harvest. It was banned again 5-6 years ago(and still is)...yet the DNR (and auto insurance companies!) are complaining about the herds growing size and lack harvest. Typical...every time THEY try to fix something, THEY create another, bigger problem. Their reason for the ban, is to stop deer from gathering in the same small area and spreading disease through "facial fluids". Apparently, these geniuses that know more than us, have never heard of licking branches, or seen multiple deer munching on the same plants, or ever even watched how deer behave naturally....living nose to nose!

Cool! The only thing missing is Bigfoot😁 In our state, they are now getting Chronic Wasting Disease in deer. I just had 4 come right up to my door ( literally) a few days ago that looked plenty healthy.

You know, I’ve noticed a few deer on the cam that just look a bit gaunt. I may need to check them with our local game warden.

We were in Bastrop, Texas yesterday, on our way to watch our grandson, Sullivan Brantley, play baseball. We needed gas so stopped into the Buc-ee's there to fill-up. Across the bay from our car was this striking beauty:Sorry about the windshield crack on our Infiniti QX (getting that repaired soon!) but we were right behind him when leaving the place. The owner had come out of the store while I was finishing up and he lowered the folding top after climbing in. He drove away beside us and with my window down, he looked at me as I gave him a thumbs up. Oh, the smug, satisfied look on his face! And who wouldn't look like that, driving a machine like that?!? 😁

You can get a used one for around 250K. We know Ferraris are impressive - I've always been an American muscle car guy but 562HP @ 9000RPM with a 3300LB curb weight sounds pretty damned fun!

Beautiful boat! I always figured I'd need 5 boats. * Little racing sailboat like a Thistle * nice fishing boat like a Proline walkaround * ocean cruising sailboat like a Morgan 36 * a sport boat for skiing/wakeboarding like a Mastercraft * and finally either a pontoon boat or a houseboat for hanging out and partying.

Hit the Canadian side of the Detroit River (by Grosse Isle), with the wife, kid and airport manager. Side note: Some airport news... The Yankee Air Force was looking for some hangar space for their B-25 and C-47 (temporarily). While those two were out, their new hangars doors decided to not work anymore...trapping the B-17 inside. The company that made the doors is not backing their product.

Geez leave some for the rest of would you!!! Nice haul. There's plenty left!!! It still amazes me....when you see the number of boats out there, and they're all catching fish, all Spring into Summer...and the number of boats out on Lake Erie, plus the commercial "take", day in and day out...it's still the amazing fishery that it is. The numbers of fish is astounding! We got all these in about 2 hours...plus we threw some back.(Also got into a mess of white perch...meh) On the flip side...we went last Monday afternoon and didn't have so much as a single hit, for the 6 of us.
