Oh yeah.....this one's gettin' good now!! Got paint flyin' all over the dang place. Swell masking to boot!! Masking looks a bit like a dog’s breakfast… but didn’t get no overspray or leaks and such. Looking forward to seeing the results bud.

We're at 42C/107F and 8% humidity here in AZ. I may try airbrushing my test mule just to see... hmmmm That's a lot of tape work - can't wait to see the results. Those numbers are quite alien to us here in Ontario. Any time time it gets really hot here there is oppressive humidity to go along with it. Half the battle for air conditioners is to pull the moisture out of the air - certainly not something your systems deal with. Does it get cold/much cooler there at night? It's around 81-84 degrees here at night with a humidity of 70-90%. Frickin' NASTY!!

We've had temps in the mid 80s here on the east coast but the humidity is killer!

You just need a taste of cold winters to make you appreciate the hot summers. I just feel more limber and happier when I can see and feel the sun. On a similar note, in Ontario we have 2 seasons: winter and construction. Frustrating to get around anywhere.

There are two seasons here: 1. Summer and 2. Almost summer.

I can’t say that I’d enjoy sweating 24/7.

The evenings are beautiful, but it only gets down to 80F/26C or so during these hottest of months. The thing I didn't expect when I moved here was how cold the winter can get. We had a couple days last year where it dipped below freezing.

I'm really not all that surprised about those low temps John as that was kind of the same thing I experienced in the dry climate of Iraq. It got down in the high 20's / low 30's during the winter over there.

It got down in the high 20's / low 30's during the winter over there. Did you serve in Iraq Joe? Seems like a terrifying place to me. From a military standpoint I did not. I was in the military for 14 years and had exited a few months before I went to Iraq working for KBR. Without getting into the politics surrounding it all, I really didn't want to work for a contractor in a war zone BUT....my family got hit hard with a financial crisis and pretty much wiped us out. The stint in Iraq put me and my family back on the map financially and we fully recovered. I made sure from that point onward that we were more secure in our finances. To address the second part of your question....yes....it was a frickin' "show" alright. Constant mortar and rocket attacks and then these "yayhoos" would fire their automatic weapons pointed towards the base arbitrarily. The money saved our butts but man....what an experience is all I can say. I do have some pictures of my time over there and can post some up at some point. I was at Camp Slayer near Saddam's Perfume Palace, his man made lakes and hunting grounds.

Wow, an interesting chapter in your life to be sure. How similar was your experience in comparison to Hollywood’s interpretation of the area/times?

Speaking of weather, last week Toronto was rated with the worst air quality in the world due largely to the forest fires in norther Ontario.. Photo taken on the 401 - perhaps the second worse highway for traffic in North America.

Not being involved directly with the conflict I can’t really say. I can tell out about the bombs going off in town as we heard at least one every day we were there it seemed like. Machine gun fire was commonplace and the mortars were just fired off randomly. Frickin crazy way of life around there.

Things are moving along. Engine bay is done about as far as I'm gonna take it. Played around a bit with Prismacolor pencils (thanks Joe :^) Wheels are done too. I used the P.E. rotors for a little more accuracy. Might still put a little black wash or panel liner over them.

Those pencils do the trick nicely and the way you've got the engine cover detailed out is no exception to that rule. Beautiful work in the engine bay and on the rotors. A black wash would do those rotors up juuust right bud.

But at least we have another highway with zero congestion… which only costs a mortgage payment to use.

Love the rotors! Did you have them painted too? Yes. I painted the kit rotors with Alclad chrome and they looked pretty decent, however the PE just had more refined detail and realistic finish. The callipers were painted Tamiya TS-16.

If you have any Future try tinting it with some black acrylic paint. Mix a dab in a small bottle (I use an old Tamyia thin bottle) until opaque and then just brush it on. The self leveling of the Future will make it fill in the voids while leaving the rotor face almost unchanged. Dull down with a flat coat if to shiny.
