I swear Mike....I have NOT been hiding under a rock but I've missed a large portion of the progress that's been going on with this whale of a build. I can't get over all of the detail that's in that cockpit and then all the attention and love that you're pouring into the fuselage and paint prep. Just an outstanding build in every aspect bud. Verrrrrrrrry nicely done so far bud.

I started checking the fit of the resin wings. I cut the casting blocks off and checked for fit. This is going to be some work to fair in. Well of it doesn't work, I still have the kit wings that I can fall back on.

I hope the resin co-operates with you. A wing fold on this is going to look tremendous! The last Avionics set in worked with was pretty decent fit wise

I may pass on the wing fold. They don't come close to fitting. I'll check with the exhausts attached.

Everywhere! It would take a ton of filling, shims and sanding to get it to fit even close. The kit wings fit almost perfectly.

Yeah that's what it seems like. And the curve of the upper wing isn't right.

Drag man
Can you cut the kit wings and use the resin folding stuff? This sounds bad even as I ask the question

I wasted no time getting back to the bench after going to the San Antonio show. I added the front windscreen so that I can blend it in. It's not bad, just needs a little work. I've also started cleaning up the wings. I'm going to get some metal or plastic tube to insert into the exhaust to hide the seams that would be impossible to get rid of.

She's looking good so far, Mike! 👍 When I built my Revell Intruder, I believe I used a section of a ball-point pen body. That seemed about the right thickness. I just don't have a good photo of that part; this rather blurry pic is as close as I can get:

Now that's clever Mike, nice work around to the pesky seams.

Thanks guys! Well when I went to fit the wings, the tubing that I used fowled up against the fuselage. Had to bust out the dremel and sand away the areas that were in the way. It looks horrible but none of that will be seen.

Still think it is a great way to overcome the seam issue. With this tidbit of snafu, I can say without really feeling like an arse....the jet pipes on the PW J52 P408A are curved in sort of a lazy "S" shape inorder to keep the centerline symetry of the engines. Even though the fuselage tapers in as it goes back the engine exhaust are still well inboard of the exterior airframe. Not sure of any model company who got this right nor if anybody sans a former Prowler guy would even know or care.
