I’ll look through some of my saved references to see if I can find any photos but I don’t know if I have anything good. Essentially the silver box on top is the ignition. Has the big wire running from it under it to the distributor. And then it’s just a relatively normal looking distributor and cap underneath where all the plug wires go.

I suspected as much. Excellent photos, thank you! Also, that photo was just for reference nothing is glued. Its just sitting there to get an idea of how it would be so I could compare with a 1:1 photo. Thanks again!

I think in real life there is some more stuff driven on the same shaft for fuel metering too. But you can’t see any of that anywhere in photos. It’s been awhile since I’ve done any Cosworth research. I Should do another one soon. I’m enjoying your build

Primer and Gloss black coats for Alclad paints Nothing glamorous but trying out a better way to take more detailed photos. Engine assembly with Tamiya panel line accent paint for some depth and realism.

Getting better at the PE parts. These pieces were large enough to easily sand off the little bits that are left after removing from the sheet. I tried sanding them in a circular direction to imitate actual usage. It definitely adds a touch of realism. Just need to add some black wash for depth.

I like the look of the rotor, are you going to put color on the brake calipers?

I never realized that these cars had two brake calipers per rotor. Now THAT'S some good braking power right there! Your progress is looking good here and am looking forward to seeing the additional detail being brought out.

I like the look of the rotor, are you going to put color on the brake calipers? So the color that is on there is per the instructions, but I don't really like it either. Its hard to find photos of the calipers but I've seen them black on other builds I'm thinking of doing that. I never realized that these cars had two brake calipers per rotor. Now THAT'S some good braking power right there! Your progress is looking good here and am looking forward to seeing the additional detail being brought out. Yea the rears have dual calipers also, only smaller. Thank you!

I think they were probably just cast metal color. I know the original rears were magnesium and the fronts were Lockheed which sometimes were a good color on British passenger cars. But either way I like contrasting colors on my builds. Great updates on this!!

Feeling a bit defeated the last few days. I dont know why but Im making stupid mistakes. Not paying close attention to instructions missing small things. Also.. ffs these decals are killing me. Not giving up, but I am going to take a little break from this guy. I have until March to finish per the FSM GB rules. Ill be fine. Jsut need to step away for a bit. Its rain season, so some changes are needed where I work to keep water off the work bench when I open the garage door. So I think Ill take the time to do some garage cleanup. I also want to test a few things witht he paint booth. Just need to step back from this and take a breath haha.

Happens to us all. Step back. Fix your work space up and get yourself feeling good. That’s one of my favorite parts about the his hobby. If we need to step away to refocus it’s always there waiting for us, just as we left it. Great work so far. You’ve got this when you’re ready.

Sorry to read about the mishaps! Maybe watch the upcoming race in Las Vegas will help you feel motivate. Do they sell aftermarket decals for F1 race cars too?

I've definitely been where you are in regard to needing a breather James and it is better sometimes to take a step back and take a look at things in "big picture" mode. I do have to say that this one is coming along very well despite your troubles with it and that it's gonna be a stellar finish when done.

I really appreciate that from all fo you. I have learned a LOT in the last 6-8 months. Some recently from joining MSC. But also, Ive seen the absolutely outstanding quality that some of yall produce. For me to get to that level I need more practice and patience. For where I am yes, the decals look good. But so far I have damaged or layed each one crooked or wrong. Not a big deal, in the end. I just may have jumped into something a bit above my level too early. Its still fun, I just hate to ruin something. Just cleaning up the space last night and this afternoon has made a huge impact.

One big thing is to not compare yourself to those with more experience. Decals on those F1 cars can be tough. Or Indy cars. Especially those long stripes. I am on my 3rd attempt at the Scott Brayton Amway Lola. Maybe this time it will be acceptable. You could always finish the model and put it on the shelf. Then in a year or so pick the same one up and build it again to see how far you've come. The ones you struggle with early are a good yardstick for how much you have improved over time.

Yea, totally agree! I would maybe set it aside, but I want to meet the deadline in the group build. Your advice is still appreciated, and makes a lot of sense. I didnt expect this to make as much of a difference as it has but cleaning up the space makes things feel better. I also rearranged things to make being at the desk more comfortable. Before After Reorganized the drawers also I ordered a new self healing cutting mat. The one pictured is almost 15 years old and its covered in glue paint holes and needed to be replaced. I flipped it over and can utilize the reverse side for my son. Sometimes we work together in the garage now he has his own little space. I think this will make a huge help. Need to look into lighting, but so far we are so much better already.

That’s a super nice looking space you have there James. I always enjoy a good reorganization of my work space too. Feels much better to sit down to a space like that. Good idea to clear the mind.

I cannot wait to get into my new model space/ new home. I think If I take a bit of time and logically set my room up, I call it nesting LOL, the build/finish process will become much more enjoyable. Plus I have a GB to host
