Well, we've got a couple of months to go...maybe I'll wait and see what other people go with and try to find something that's not done. If anyone is in need of a FW-190 of some sort, I'm sure I have a couple of extras in my stash I could trade away or part with! I don’t have a 190 but I also don’t have any Aoshima Countachs. Lol What scale do you like to build in? I can poke around!

Since my grand total of airplane builds sits at 4. And the scale count sits even between 1/72 and 1/48. Ancient Revell 1/48 P-47, New Revell 1/72 Avro Shackleton (still huge though), ancient Revellogram 1/48 P-61 and 1/72 B-25. I appreciate it though. I’d imagine even if you don’t have anything you want to part with I can track down a kit. No doubt my not-so local hobby shop even has one or two. I fully intend to participate.

I never knew that these were in Japanese service Tony. This IS gonna be a hit. I'll be watching for that other scheme that you found.

I never knew that these were in Japanese service Tony. This IS gonna be a hit. I'll be watching for that other scheme that you found. News to me too Joe! One online gaming site has this to say about (all caveats on the source apply): The ▅Fw 190 A-5 was loaned to the Japanese Army to examine its performance and design for their own IJAAS. The diving speed impressed them, but its agility disappointed, and Army decided not to produce or license more units. Instead, Kawasaki engineers learned from its features, especially its powerful air-cooled engine, which inspired the development of the Ki-100s engine that replaced the one in the Ki-61. The Army tested the Fw 190 against other foreign planes they had acquired, such as the Bf 109 E-7, P-51C 'Evalina' and their own domestic planes Ki-61 and the advanced Ki-84. They ranked the Fw 190 second after the P-51C, noting that its horizontal speed and maneuverability were not very impressive, while its diving speed was outstanding.

Funny how they failed to mention the wicked roll rate that the Fw190 had in relation to the rest of the line up. The Fw 190 was also able to take considerably more punishment in terms of "hits" than the Japanese counterparts too. I wonder what source the gamers got their information from. I will say that the Ki-61 was definitely "all that".

I will say that the Ki-61 was definitely "all that". I was wondering about the roll rate.....when you consider the nightmares it gave the RAF until the Mk IX came along, I was surprised with what they found. And as you say, it could take far more punishment that than the Japanese planes. As for the source info, Wikipedia says the same thing, quoting: Caygill, Peter (2002). Combat Legend Focke-wulf Fw 190. Ramsbury, UK: Airlife Publishing Limited. ISBN 978-1-84037-366-0.

The Japanese also had a BF-109E-7 for evaluation (with the proper markings). Hasegawa kits that as well!

Good evening So I have two 1/48 Eduard 190s in the stash, an A-8 and a D-9...... but I'm thinking of you giving you all with two for the price of one with these! At least for the moment! Andrew

I was surprised that Classic Airframes released it. Long after they ceased releasing plastic kits. I didn't waste any time ordering it. Now the MPM 1/72 kit can find a new home.

As you, correctly surmised, I know nothing of Hermann. But he looks like a pretty cool guy. I stand by my sweet! Though because I feel that way about any airplane build in 1/32 scale. Lol
