Honestly, I no longer care about FSM. I let my subscription fold and the mates I had there are either at their bench in the sky or here. MSC has all I need and besides, I struggle to keep up with what's going on here, let alone what's happening on another site! As I believe someone else has said, that ship has sailed, so to me it doesn't matter what they do, I won't be going back. I was only on the FSM forum for a short time and it didn't take long for the few people I regularly talked with too find their way here so I had no real attachments even before it really fell apart. I do however understand why people that were there for 20+ years could have formed an attachment. The fact of the matter is that it always was, and probably will again be, playing second fiddle to the paper magazine. It was a bit awkward to use and posting pictures was a pain but they really didn't care because it wasn't of prime importance. Even if fixed up to modern standards it will stay in that secondary roll so why hang out there instead of a place where the forum itself (and it's members of course) are the one and only focus? And believe me I know my way around a forum! 8 years on FT86club before it started to die out.

In the last few months of my time there, there was a lot of feeling being expressed about how good it used to be. Since being here I've seen numerous comments on how great MSC is, how much is going on and how much MSC is what FSM used to be like in its heyday. It speaks for itself really.

Hmmmm. I wonder when they get the new forums up, if I can sneak in. Probably unless your etched in stone on the double secret suspension list 🤔 Well being a Mojo, I probably am.

My interest in their magazine had already begun to fade by then. I think the only thing I regularly looked forward to were the workbench reviews, but now there is more such content online. I am also one that has a hard time straddling two similar forums, so for me it's one or the other.

Quite frankly I found several of the long term members to be a bit intense. Thankfully they don't seem to show much interest in coming over here. I LOVED the magazine for almost 20 years and would read them over and over. The history of kits/companies, pages and pages of what was new, five or six well written reviews in each issue and the letters from readers kept me waiting for each edition. Then a few years ago the chief editor changed and so did the magazine. The letters were all but gone (unless they praised the mag), reviews dropped down to two or three, the history section at the back turned into "look at this funny build" and EVERY SINGLE ISSUE had to have a whole segment on figure painting with sub postage stamp sized pictures repeating exactly what the prior month said. It was after those changes that I decided to go the forum route in the hopes I would get back what the hard copy had lost. I didn't!

I agree, you, Dodgy, Gamera, Real G,( FSM MAFIA), and actually many others here were what brought me over. There was a " folksy" feel about FSM but it trues can't hold a candle to the experience here. This speaks VOLUMES to the hard work behind the scenes to keep this site " bot/troll" free. THANK YOU. Perhaps FSM is lookng to us as a model??? LOL I'm glad they are getting back on their feet, probably won't renew my subscription however it is nice to have an option if I want to butterfly.

There are a few high profile names from FSM that have popped in here but are not really active so it will be interesting to see how many we lose back to there if they ever get it running right again.

Honestly I can't see what they could possibly offer that you can't get here, so I don't understand why anyone would go back, unless they enjoy being on more than one site. Besides, the atmosphere here is far superior. They may fix the usability, but the attitude will still be the same. A BIG shout out to our moderators/management team. Thanks to all of you for your vision, dedication and hard work. I, for one, really appreciate it and I very much doubt that I'm alone. Good on yer cobbers!! I already participate in numerous forums, they all offer something different, some are more busy the others, some are more serious, some are more loose.I'll check it out,and then I will decide on my level if participation. To me, it's not one or the other,it's as many as I want.
