Looks great so far Kyle! The suspension work has some really nice detail to it. Hopefully you won't have any fitment issues with the body.

This kit has a lot of details for that suspension in 1/24 scale Kyle and you're putting this together pretty dang snazzy. Beautiful work so far. Thanks Joe. I’ve talked to a couple people that have built it and they all agree that it’s a solid kit with some nice details but it also has its pit falls and issues. Adding MORE detail can cause fit issues as everything is a very tight squeeze. Probably going to be sticking OOB on this one Can't say I blame you there with it being that tight of a fit Kyle.

Thanks, Kyle! I don't know what Scale Finishes Honey Gloss is but I'm going to check it out. The color really POPS. Excellent finish work. And of course Mr Surfacer beneath the color coat makes total sense. Do you find using black as a base coat helps add some depth? I have not really experimented too much with that idea. Thank you Bruce!! Love the black primer for that very reason. Especially if I’m airbrushing something that needs to be grungy. I can lighten up a little bit and really get some variations in color tone or added depth to details on things. The gloss is from scalefinishes.com/. Check them out if you ever need any period correct paint for any automotive builds. And he’ll even create colors if you need something specific he doesn’t have. They are airbrush ready and available in gloss enamel or a lacquer that requires clear. They spray beautifully. Big fan. Looks great so far Kyle! The suspension work has some really nice detail to it. Hopefully you won't have any fitment issues with the body. Thanks Brent!! Fingers crossed. Thanks Joe. So here’s a quick mock-up I did. Everything is fitting really nice And then remember that conversation about spilled cement? I got some 3d printed holders for my Tamiya…but not for my plastruct. Caught it with my thumb while reaching. Small disaster. This is going to live in its box until I feel I can look at it again. I’m not mad. I just don’t want to work on it at the moment. lol. If this is the worst thing that happens this week I’ll be doing ok though.

Don't worry buddy, I know you can fix it.
I built that one, nicest kit I've come across yet. Everything fits perfectly! When you're done, we can park it beside my black one, lol.

Dangit!! I've done that exact thing. Had to cool off a bit, but I dipped it and redid it again and was happier with the results. You can fix this, no worries.

You’re right. The kit is exceptionally nice. I’ve actually opened the box back up and started cleanup on it since we had a run of weather where it was too wet to paint anything. I think it’ll be ok. Nothing too serious. Dangit!! I've done that exact thing. Had to cool off a bit, but I dipped it and redid it again and was happier with the results. You can fix this, no worries. Thanks Brandon! I’m ok now and she has been pulled back off the shelf for repair work. I know it’ll turn out ok and no one except you guys online will ever even see the bottom anyways! Lol.

I brought a couple kits with me to North Carolina to tinker with in case it rained or I had a short night or something. Got to do a little tinkering on this. Working on the rear suspension. This is a dry fit because I didn’t bring the wheels and poly caps out of the project box at home. I want to check stance before I glue everything. It’s all fitting really well though as long as I take my time. Really excellent kit. Im enjoying it.

Don't know how I missed this one. Following along - I have this one in the stash. Looking good so far and glad to see you back at it. At least the glue issue is on the belly.

Multiple test fitting is a must on every part. I got the damage cleaned up. It feels so smooth but wanted to ghost a little through the aluminum. I’m not worried about it where it is. No one will look under this model anyways.

This kit does have some great detail!! Tinkered on this some more. Happy with the suspension, I think. Just a couple mock up shots to see if the body is fitting ok. It is excellent. Also installed a bunch of gold rivers in the seat with my gold gel pen. A little touch up necessary but in scale, I think it looks similar enough to the real seat.

Progress on this car is definitely coming along well and the suspension work and seats are looking the part Kyle. These are some of the best-looking cars ever IMO.

I’m having a lot of fun with this kit. Hopefully the positive progress continues. Gold rivets with a gel pen? You’re insane. Looks really good! Lyle, I have a set of metallic colored gel pens I love to do little details yet. Easier and neater than a brush, at least for me. I also love the metallic sharpies for things like this too. Or pushrods on radial engines and things like that. Great looking results with the pen Kyle. The seat insert look fantastic! Thanks Brent!! One of my favorite tools in my arsenal is the pen. And the mechanical pencil as a CA applicator. Also featuring in this build process. Lol.

Looking so good so far, Kyle! 👍 That gold is going to look really sharp too! 🤩
Any ideas about how this kit compares to the old IMC Ford GT MkII kit from the mid-sixties? I built that one way back then, but also bought a vintage kit off Ebay last year. Thought it would be fun to relive the old daze! 😁

Great idea for the seats. I'll have to remember that one. I really like these Kaiser color pens I got in a pack off amazon. Great for things like raised bolt heads, lug nuts or rivets. Looking so good so far, Kyle! 👍 That gold is going to look really sharp too! 🤩

Thought it would be fun to relive the old daze! 😁 Thank you Gary. I've never built the old IMC kit but I have seen some really nice examples of it built up, so I know a good result is very possible. This one is a completely modern kit with some really excellent engineering. So far I'd recommend it to anyone. Copious test fitting is a necessity with it as clearances are incredibly tight, but then again, they were that tight on a real GT-40. I'm impressed with it so far. Nicely done Kyle! Yeah, those seat rivets are a Pain, but well ,worth the effort in the end. Thank you! Can't have a GT40 seat without those very prominent seat rivets.

The Meng kit is light years ahead of anything IMC ever did. My only complaint is the front compartment isn't accurate, so if you don't want to glue the "hood" shut, it won't look right. With mine I carved the front end out of the IMC kit (that's all they're good for) and fitted it into the Meng (1/25th into 1/24th but you'd never notice) but that's only because I wanted the full detail. The Meng was probably the best kit I've ever worked with, well worth the money. I have another I'll be building soon I just hope it's as good.
Hardly anybody builds the gold car, nice to see somebody do it, looks great so far.

Thabks Paul! I’ll likely be permanently attaching the “hood” but I agree. It is a next level kit so far. Wish I’d bought another one when I bought this one. As for the gold, I just felt it was a little neglected and ignored. And I think it looks good in gold.
