Since we have so many active members new to MSC along with old school members, I thought it would be a great way for everyone to each other a little better if we shared a little about ourselves especially where your user name and avatar came from. For some using their name or something that has some meaning, to others it may be humor or military background. Since I started this I will go first...
My name is Brent (Handiabled) I live in central Minnesota out of town within walking distance of a chain of 3 lakes. Back in 2006 I was working at a contractor supply company in the repair shop. I did everything from rebuild generators to re-calibrate lasers for surveying. A work injury, 5 shoulder surgeries and 5 spine surgeries later I found myself unable to work and on disability. Family and friends pushed me to get handicapped license plates but I always told them I'm not handicapped I'm handiabled I can still walk and do things. Thus my user name. Going from 50 plus hours a week working to nothing was driving me insane, so I got back into building models again after many years away from it. After a few builds I ended up building a replica of a relative's B-24 in WWII which led to me putting together an entire exhibit of the 450th BG for the Richard Bong Museum in Superior Wisconsin. During one visit I asked the head of maintenance if i could sneak under the ropes and take some pictures of the P38J "Marge" that is there. He surprised me by putting a ladder next to the wing and waking away. That is where my picture came from. Sometime a little unauthorized activity can be pretty cool. Well that's my long winded story how about you all?

Nothing glamourus, or related to anything but here goes; My avatar is, was, our fat kitty, she was the wierdest cat I ever met...loved squirt bottles, dogs, and would scream " NOW" when she wanted to be fed. She kinda picked me as her human so after awhile I played along. We put her to rest several years ago after almost 18yrs with her, she out lived her litter mate sister by 4yrs and was really just a cool cat. My user name is completely opposite of my career choice, Aviation Maint. Tech. ( Avionics/ Electrician). I love almost everything that flies, beats the air into submission, or makes enough noise to wake the dead, however armored vehicles have always facinated me. Big, heavy, and darn near unstoppable. I like WWII Axis armor, modern US, Russian tracked and wheeled SPGs SPAAGs, recovery/ transport.... Nothing fancy just me. I also don't mind going by my real name Perry, or my new Aussie nickname of " Pezza".

My moniker has no big significance either.
To short for Anthony or Tony Jo short for my middle name Joseph 72 my radio call sign for many years at work for the gas company

Much shorter story. Name is an abbreviation of my first and last names. For many years I was extremely active in the FRS/GT86/BRZ sportscar community both online and in person. This included two trips to California and Washington State for large meets. Like many things that community has sort of crumbled over the last year or so and I sort of migrated to modeling forums it live vicariously through others. My avatar is often thought to be a model because of the way the car is displayed and the theme of the forums (well singular forum I guess) I now hang out at but is actually my real car in the detailing inspection booth at the dealership. It is a 202 Toyota GT86 Hakone Special Edition and is one of only 50 in nada and 500 in the US. It is the last special edition of the first gen 86s.

Great idea Brent.
My name is Joe. Pretty evident. The Rix part is my middle name. For that I am named after my great aunt. She was a wonderful matriarch on my mom's side of the family. I have always been quite proud of it and many of my friends call me Joe Rix. The Monty Python avatar is because I am an avid Monty Python fan. It was just something new and fun and I love all of the Spanish Inquisition skits. I will change my avatar from time to time just for something new.

My name is Neal and I chose a Minion for my avatar because I cause chaos and mayhem everywhere I go. Actually, I like logic and order, but I am frequently seen as the enemy of normal by others. And as Sophia Vergara said “Minions! I love Minions! You know, the little yellow guys? You cannot understand anything they say!” My user name RealG was just something I hastily scraped together when I joined the FSM forum, as it was my first and I had no idea what to use. It stems from my obsessive fixation on Gundam mobile suits exclusively from the Universal Century timeline, at the fanatical exclusion of all others. The owner of a hobby shop I frequented coined my nickname “Mr Real Gundam”, or just “Real” for short.

My username just came from a couple of random items in my living room while i was setting up a Yahoo Messenger account, back when that was still a thing. I had a painting of an eagle in flight on my wall, and on the kitchen bar there was a bottle of Danny Cash hot sauce...heh...don't know why I chose the random number at the end.
My avatar is me standing in front of the "K-town Phantom", an abandoned RF-4C that was still sitting in an HAS on the old, cold war side of Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Worked a long shift that day doing contract work re-certifying C-21s, and one of the guys I was working with there took me on a tour of that area on an aircraft tug after we were done for the day. "K-town" just refers to the Kaiserslautern Military Complex in Western Germany, about 90 miles Southwest of Frankfurt.

Ages ago there was a baseball player on the San Diego Padres named Fred McGriff. At the time there was a popular commercial/crime awareness campaign featuring McGruff - the crime dog. McGriff got the nick name crimedog - and after a game with buddies everyone became 'name'dog. Mine stuck - it's the first part of my last name + dog. lol My avatar is a great pic by the track photographer at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway coming through a corner in my 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca. Cars are another hobby... and way more expensive!

It started having continuous issues right once I graduated grad school, so had to sell it for something more reliable. A few years ago I was in the market for a Shelby 350. We ended up having a kid instead lol. The 350 was a blast to test drive and I think about it often… One day when my son is older, I plan on pulling the trigger on one.

The name I used when I played video games as a kid was always Green Beret because my cousin and I thought they were bad a**. As I got into my teenage years, that gamertag evolved into Green Terrorz. That’s still the name I typically use when playing multiplayer video games with friends. I developed my username as a play on my video game name plus scale modeling.
My avatar has been changing based on my most recent completed build. One day I might create a unique image just to be used as an avatar.

I'm English by birth with an English father and Syrian mother, but grew up in New England. I've always entertained my heritage. When I first joined FSM 20 years ago I wanted something English. The Tempest is English but name was taken. I added Johnny on the end and success. For years everyone called me TJ on the forum. So I re-branded myself here.
The avatar is the tail gunner from the Iron Maiden record. I'm a metal head

Well my name doesn’t get any more self explanatory. The number I use for everything and have since high school. It was my number for sports and I’ve just rolled with it ever since. My avatar is the dirt sprint car I help crew on. My other hobby. We also race on pavement but with a different car. It might get updated to a newer version of the car or the pavement car but it’ll probably be a sprint car if some sort until my driver retires. lol. I doubt I’ll help anyone else once he does.

Hey all! I’m Jeremy Linn, and I’m from north east Indiana. My username and avatar have been with me and a part of my “internet identity” for nearly 25 years now, and probably always will be. Both are music inspired. One of my other great passions is guitar. I’m into both kinds of 80’s music, hard rock and metal!😁 In the mid nineties I tried to form a band with a couple of buddies. It never worked out because we couldn’t find a drummer who was willing to put up with a couple of guys who’d never been in bands before. But we tried to get something going for about a year or so before moving on to other ventures. During that time, the one band name that kept being kicked around was Atomic Holiday. The origin of the name was a song by my favorite guitarist, Jake E. Lee. That name sort of stuck and has followed me for all these years. The avatar is actually from another band I was in, several years later. In the early 2000’s I was in a group that played parties. At this same time, my wife was starting to get into photography. At one of my last shows, she was taking pictures of the band. Later when we were looking through the pictures, I found this one. She wanted to delete it because the stage lighting was messing with the shot and created this weird double exposure effect. I thought it was awesome that way though and started using it. I’ve used it on every forum, or anything that requires an avatar since then.

Cool idea! Ill join along. Hey ya'll! My name is James. Located in East Bay area of Northern California. Specifically Hayward/Fremont/Union City (Parents and my house). I started using Project510 as a user name back in 2004 when I bought my Datsun 510, and also because I have spent 98% percent of my life in the 510 area code. Unfortunately, my career had me moving every couple years managing several multi-family housing spaces. I was attempting to build the 510 into a time attack car and just couldn't store it anywhere. It was stripped down after the L16 finally gave up so I stripped it bare, welded in a 18 point cage and couldn't finish and I regrettably sold it, and now prices have skyrocketed so high Ill probably never be able to get another one. I keep the user name, mostly because I am always working on some kind of project and well, I still live in the 510! I sold her to a guy in Los Angeles, whos wife got mad he brought home another race car who then sold it to a guy in Finland who uses/used it to do Ice Racing. So I am just happy she lived out her days racing like I intended. After all these years I don't have time to build another race car so I have switched focus to my son's future first vehicle which brings us to my Avatar! It is artwork that I had custom made depicting me and my boy in his truck that his grandpa gave us. The last year and a half has been just a lot of maintenance and basic repair. My Father in Law was never one for great maintenance so the truck needed a LOT of work. Because Id love my son to drive it in the future, the plan is eventually convert it to Electric. I'm following a few notable auto pages who are developing a plug and play system for OBDII two vehicles like our truck so that would be cool. Here is the original artwork! I had stickers made of this and hand them out when we send family photos haha. My avatar is just the truck with same background. My son loves engineering stuff, power lines, bridges, skyscrapers etc. He LOVES the GG Bridge so I added it to the sticker even though I don't really like going to SF LOL. Cheers, James

Jason.
My avatar changes on a regular basis. Right now it is the Ghost mk 2 from the anime Kyōkai Senki/Amiam warriors at the borderline. Not a great anime, but the model kits from it are some of the best of recent years. The Ghost mk 2 is, in my opinion, the best looking antagonist mech in recent years.
My username is kinda lame. Years ago, like 1994, my mom got me into message boards online. I was/am a huge sneaker collector. I made my first post ever on a Nike board. It said I needed a username, I couldn't come up with anything clever so I just used the name of the shoes I had on, the Nike air MZ3. Lame, but it stuck.

Mine is fairly self evident, first name, last initial. It has only varied on the different model sites by whether or not the forum software allows a space, underscore or I have to run it straight through as here.
My current avatar is just a funny picture of a pygmy owl. I like owls, they always look very serious and this photo is how I imagine most of us look at the bench from the perspective of the model when working on a tiny part or sliding a tricky decal into place.

I'm Brian and back in the late 70's and early 80's I was a member of a Boy Scout explorer post that was affiliated with my hometown Police Department. One of the officers was bald and he called himself a Chrome Dome. I always remembered that name and when I went bald, I would refer to myself at times with the name Chrome Dome.
When I was 35, I needed a username for a new internet service provider, I was 35 years old so I went with ChromDome35. I drop the E from Chrom just to make it a bit harder for the spammers to random generate it.
My Avatar picture is my wife and I on a trip to Alaska just being silly. It reflects my personality well.

Well, my screen name has origins from my days of jumping out of aircraft for Uncle Sam. The stick pusher is the last man out in a group of jumpers, and I was usually assigned that position when my team was jumping... "Carlos, your stick pusher." I contracted it into one word, removed the "c" from stick, and adapted that as my handle across the internet when I started going online in the 90's. My avatar, one of many that I use, was just something that I came across when doing an image search for something else. I'll change it up eventually some day...

This is so cool, as I've always looked at some of these names and avatars and wondered at the significance of them.
My name is Mark Deliduka and my middle name is Andrew. When I first joined some online forums, I didn't have a set avatar. When choosing my username, I decided to combine two of my nicknames that people have called me. One was "Duke", shortened from Deliduka. The other one was given me because my initials are M.A.D. and since I have a bit of a reputation as a wild guy, I was called Maddog by others. So, I took my two nicknames and combined them into Duke Maddog for my main screen name. When my wife saw that name, she went online, found some pics of an angry puppy, dressed him up with a crown, sword and a cape with an 'M' on it and saved it in the size of all the accepted avatar sizes. That became my avatar, reflecting my screen name. It has been the same name and avatar I've used for the last 25-30 years online, both in online MMORP games and on all my Forums.
This is also where the name "Maddog Manufacturing" came from; on the old LEM forums, someone remarked that I was a mad factory or something like that so I took that and turned it into a continuous thread showing all my works in progress. There are always so many going n that it didn't make any sense to me to make separate Threads for everything I was working on; mostly because I'd lose half of them! Back then I even used a 'factory' floor with miniatures to show off my progress in my pics, I wish I could get back to doing that. Maybe someday if I can get a decent enough factory backdrop/photo booth to photograph in.

Castelnuovo means new castle in Italian (which I speak). In Croatia, near the town of Split is a small place, that is, a chain of seven small places, each name starts with the word "cashtel" meaning castle. One is called Castel Novi, that is Castel Nuovo so there you have it. I kind of just like the sound of it. In Montenegro there is also a town today called Herceg Novi but its old name is Castel Nuovo.
Avatar is a cyclist on a time trial bike, the sort of we use in triathlons. I don't compete any more but that period of my life was sort of life savinge and very meaningful and future shaping for me. As for work, I am a physiotherapist. Greetings from Vancouver.

Did it for a little while as a sideline but it proved to be more hassle than it was worth. We do the occasional asphalt job for particular customers but we don't have a paver so we use the excavator with the rotating head to dig it straight out of the truck and place it in the patch. We mainly cart ridge gravel for farm roads, roadbase for subdivisions and the local shire council. I also cart for a couple of the smaller, private quarries, sometimes with my trailer, sometimes without. My truck compliments their semi trailers.
