And why not? I use these myself where I can they are sure simpler to use than the hair stick i agree. The metallic sharpies are great colors and easy to add a bit of detail with here or there.

Got some ordered today. Just from your pics they look a lot better than the Testors square bottle stuff that I used. Thanks Kyle.

You have been doing some right smart work on your 190 Kyle. Everything is looking great. I am of no help when it comes to mottling. I have yet to build a luftwaffe aircraft with a mottling scheme. Like you, I will be doing some practice prior to painting my Ta-152. Your practice efforts seems to paying dividends.

The best thing about this sort of practice is that there are no mess ups. You can do the same steps over and over and not worry about the parts that don’t meet your own approval.

I think once you find your sweet spot of thinning the paint, rate of flow and airbrush distance when doing the mottle you will nail this Kyle. Like Carlos said practicing until you are happy with is it the best way to get comfortable for when you do it for real.

Like you, I will be doing some practice prior to painting my Ta-152. Your practice efforts seems to paying dividends. These were the first 4 attempts. Seems I have a lot to learn. lol. The best thing about this sort of practice is that there are no mess ups. You can do the same steps over and over and not worry about the parts that don’t meet your own approval. Yes. I definitely wanted to practice on some old styrene for that very reason I don’t want to be a to worry about messing things up just yet. I have half a dozen colors that I use Maybe I should try sprinkling in multiple colors. I think once you find your sweet spot of thinning the paint, rate of flow and airbrush distance when doing the mottle you will nail this Kyle. Like Carlos said practicing until you are happy with is it the best way to get comfortable for when you do it for real. Thank you! Oh yeah. I’m going to keep practicing for sure until I have at least a modicum of confidence in what I’m doing.

Now THAT looks like you're getting the hang of that mottle pattern there Kyle. Good progression shots and you're almost ready for the real thing bro!!!

Good idea using spare parts to practice on... I should do the same since I haven't done any of mottle pattern! I like the second image so you are getting there...

For me the hard part about doing motteling was getting the paint thin enough to spray at low pressure but thick enough not to run before color begins to build up. The actual motteling isn't all that hard. Getting the paint ready to mottle, very hard.

Looking great. Nice coverage on that yellow! Thank you!!! I do not like painting yellow so I’m pretty happy with how that’s gone. Great job on the splinter and mottle my friend! What did you use for the RLM04 color? Thank you!! The yellow is Mr. Color RLM04. I was just going to use some yellow I had laying around but I spotted this at my local hobbytown and I’m glad I decided to grab it.

Great work on the soft mottle. I think that's more difficult then the polka dot mottle like on mine. Another good paint for RLM 04 is the AK Real Color covers very well

I would’ve likely gotten the AK real color if they would have had that. The rest of my rlm colors used on the camo are all Real colors. A great line of paints.
