A GREAT first-time end result on the paint and mottle work Kyle. It's really hard to get the mottle patterns to look exactly like references as the application process is so spiritic with mottle blotches not being exactly where the 1:1 had them most of the time. I'd for SURE be happy with those results on my first time trying to pull that off. Hell you did a LOT better than I did on my first attempt. lol
Coming along very well bro.

I knew it would be impossible to match the 1:1 bird but I am glad I found the photos as they led me to go with the softer style sort of blown out spots over the dots. I’m happy with it. Think it’ll look pretty good once I decal it. I’m going to shoot for that this weekend.

It looks good Kyle. I agree that it is pretty random what goes on on the sides. You can see form your own photos the differences just over a short period of time that these aircraft can have. The later one looks almost like it is mostly a darker color. I also agree that once you put the markings on it will unify it quite a bit. The only suggestion I have - maybe for future Luftwaffe builds is to use a mask of sorts when painting the camo on the wings. I usually just cut wavy lines in some tape and apply it where the color transitions are. But of course this is all up to interpretation. Anyway - like I said, looking good so far, and looking forward to this scheme taking on shape.

Didn’t know if they were hastily repainted on airfields here and there. Considered using masks but then decided not to. After I painted it I thought maybe I should have. Next time I’ll sharpen up those lines Kyle - Yellow nose looks awesome. Brings out the "Butcher" in the bird Beautiful job buddy. -Bob Thank you very much. I’m having a ball with this.

You should be building more airplanes Kyle! This looks the "Butcherbird" part perfectly with the markings going on it. It looks like the decals are laying down nice for you

I usually enjoy the airplanes I do build. I have a few more in my stash now so maybe I’ll keep one in the rotation. Also worked for a minute on this. Started the decal process. You're catching up.on my progress. I'm shutdown for two weeks while new flooring gets done in the whole house Hopefully that gets taken care of as quickly and smoothly as possible so you can get back at it!! Floors are always a pain having to move everything

Incredible decal work: your placement as well! Everything looks clean and sharp! I read through your entire thread again just to soak up or is it soak in all of the beautiful model building! A classic kit designed by one of the best design teams ever assembled. You are more than simply doing this one justice.
P.S. I was looking at your research. Impressive. Most impressive. Great views of the aircraft.

Ah yes!! The decal session! This is the part where the bird takes on some personality and this one is looking splendid so far Kyle. You're doing some good work on your first Luftwaffe build bud.

Outstanding work Kyle! I'm looking forward to seeing your weathering and finishing touches on this! Thank you! I did notice when I posted the photos that evidently I bumped the 634 on the top of the vertical stabilizer so it is absurdly crooked. We will just pretend I didn't notice that and move on.

I can't tell you how many times that I've gotten a model to the photo stage and usually after I post the picture up THAT'S when I notice something not right. The tail number aint no biggie as I've done worse for sure. Your efforts on your first Luftwaffe build are to be commended Kyle. What flat coat are you going to use?

I have two cans of flat coat in my paint stash. Both are TS-80 so that’s what I went with. Lol
