I’m at a planning crossroad. What would be more interesting. The Fw190D9 all together on a runeway sitting in front of the repair tent. Or to have a larger repair tent and have both the A7 and D9 in it being worked on.
The D9 kit has a pretty detailed engine area which is able to be opened.

Cool. Great project. I think if it were me, the larger "tent" with both having repairs sounds pretty cool. The only thing I would say is that you probably should make both from the same Jagdgeschwader. If you use the JG26 scheme - which is awesome - you should at least match the defense bands for the A-7 (Yellow to Black/White). No problem in doing a "may have been" or "probably was" aircraft... just a suggestion.

Nice suggestion hasenpfeffer - I will consider doing the same markings! I might do 1 plane in the tent, and one just outside pulled up to it. Both will be receiving work and be opened up. Seems silly to have all these details sealed away!
Got a few things done tonight.
Opened up the Eduard Brassin Fw 190A-7 Engine aftermarket box and started working on it.
Left - Resin part from AM kit. Right - Plastic that came with the kit.. Night and day difference!
After getting a few things glued up including the engine strut and acouple PE parts:
Paint applied (XF-22):
Next thing I did for the A-7 was to cut away some of the fuselage to make room for the Eduard AM engine:
Lastly for the A-7, I got all of the interior base coated with XF-63 (XF-64 for the cushion):
Onto the D-9!
I did similar work to the D-9. Minus all the additional work to manufacture the engine firewall.
Base painted with XF-63:
All paints used and my painting setup:
Saturday at some point I will hopefully complete the cockpits for both birds. Stay tuned....

That firewall looks great and even has the spots for all of the lines that come through the firewall to plumb the engine with. This is all coming together nicely and I like the ideas that you posted up for the diorama.

406 Silverado - You’re right! I’m def going to be plumbing some wires through there kyledehart5 handiabled lyle - Thank you all! Tonight I finished the cockpit for the D-9. I was hoping to get to the A-7 as well, but I ran outta time. D-9 cockpit: To start off, the D-9 kit did not include a cushion for the pilot seat. I guess by this point in the war, comfort was no longer important lol. Anyways, I made one… Completed D-9 cockpit: The cockpit came together on the D-9 relatively well. I do find it interesting that Eduard had some of their cockpit PE parts painted, while others the instructions indicate I need to paint them…

Joe Rix kyledehart5 - Thank you both! I was able to complete the A-7 cockpit this afternoon. Went together similarly to the D-9, except I purchased the Eduard Look painted resin gauge cluster. It is extremely detailed as you can see below. I decided to make the A-7 cockpit more worn as the plane will be in need of heavy repair in my diorama. My next step will be the engine bay for both planes. The D-9 won’t have any engine components exposed as the kit did not come with an engine… But it will have the nose mounted machine gun area opened up.

So cool! If it weren't for these photos, we'd never know what was under that dash shroud.... LOL But the LOOK panels look the part. I don't know at this point which is more cost effective (or just better in general) compared to the 3D printed stuff.
Still, I was imagining the "tent" to be camo netting or the like. You could do both under something like that and still show it all.
Either way, it's gonna be sweet. And 1 step further than I've ever taken it before.

cbaltrin kyledehart5 Joe Rix hasenpfeffer dean48ws handiabled Thanks for swinging by and checking out my build! Sorry it’s been so long since my last update. @hasenlfeffer - Yeah possibly both under the tent, or one just right outside. I might just got with which of the two options allows for better photos of it all together. As for the camo netting; I have seen people use gauze before to make it. Right now that’s likely how I will do it as well. So over the past week, I got the nose mounted gun bay completed for the D-9. I painted all the metal parts with a range of Alclad paints. Photo while still open: Photos after the two sections joined together:
I have to admit… This part was quite challenging as there were several fitting issues.

You're really setting a bar high with that pit and partial engine & guns Keith. That pit looks absolutely gorgeous dude. There are times when building these that I've thought of building a separate mockup of the cockpit to lay out beside the completed build just so folks can see what the pit DOES look like. lol
Exceptional work brother.

Looks like you successfully crammed everything in there and it looks great! Engine next? Thank you! The D-9 actually didn’t come with an engine, and I have failed on finding an aftermarket one. I will be doing the engine for the A-7 next though. I also have an engine to build for an A-4. The A-4 engine will be in a wooden crate in “new” condition.
