That is quite a difference between the 2 paints. Thanks for sharing your results.
The strips look good to me. Did you cut them yourself or did they come in narrow pieces?

Finally got around to ordering some MCW paint for this and it arrived yesterday. There’s a pretty big difference between the MCW and Scale Finishes paints considering they represent the same color. MCW is on the right in both pictures. Here are the two test shots side by side. Grey primer was used for both. My opinion, both look terrific. Both spray really well. I do prefer the flake in the MCW. But I think the Scale Finishes shade looks closer to the real car I posted above. That’s the one I’m going to go with.👍 Paints can vary quite radically, even with same code. For example, I had to paint a crashed Mountaineer in black, which you would think is simple, had 26 different variants of the same code. Both paints that you show would be quite acceptable, so you can’t go wrong with either one, they both will look great on that model.

I agree the Scale Finishes looks to be the closer shade you are going for

The strips are Evergreen .01" x .03". Quick update. Not much work has been getting done, due to some other hobbies intruding into my modeling time. But today I worked on the top a bit more. Trimming, filing, sanding, etc… Still want to scribe a few of the short strips. I did mess one step up. After going back and rereading Steve G’s instructions on another site, I realized I shouldn’t have put strips on the top. Just got ahead of myself. My bad. I think I can make it work out okay this time. Lesson learned, and for the next one, I’ll go with paint for the seam lines. It should be more in scale that way. Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I stripped the interior. Just couldn’t live with the glossy look. Hopefully it goes better the second time around.👍

It’ll still look good with the strips. Looking forward to the next step!

I've got this new numbnuts dog that my wife brought home last year and that guy.......THAT guy keeps me busy pretty much all the time. I spent the weekend "bulletproofing" my fence so he wouldn't go through it. Major bummer when it comes to getting anything done on my bench or time spent here. Sorry to hear about the interior but it sounds like you've got a good plan in moving forward Jeremy. Looking forward to seeing what you'll do next on this one.

I hear you though. Our last dog used to love to go over to the neighbors and play with their dogs. Not by my choice. Anyway, I went out to get her back and the neighbor was out doing yard work. The dog saw me and ran over to the neighbor and sat down beside her and just looked at me, as if to say “now what are you gonna do?” Fortunately my neighbor was a dog lover and really liked ours. But still… I just have too many distractions. Too many hobbies and I’m passionate about all of them. There a possibility I’ll be forming a band again, so I’ve been putting in a lot of time practicing. And then yesterday I ordered a 3D printer. It’s for modeling purposes, but jeeze! Pick it hobby already!😂

Definitely aren't enough hours in the day when it comes to getting some bench time. Our dogs and my wife's cats (plus whatever foster animals we have) all have their routines. Forming a band again? Cool I hope it works out and if nothing else it gives you people to jam with again. I have a egg carton lined studio in my basement people come over and work on different projects from time to time with my 24 track. Drummers are nearly extinct in these parts.....

Yeah, I’m pretty excited about it. Haven’t been in a band in just over 20 years. We’ll see how it goes. Drummers are about impossible to find. Singers are pretty difficult to get too. Guitar players (like me)? We’re a dime a dozen. But I wouldn’t trade instruments for anything.🤟

I had to give it up when I got injured 8 years ago, when I could no longer stand up and hold it. I ended up selling everything, including a Les Paul Ace Frehley, a 76 Epiphone Crestwood, peavey and Crate amps, etc☹️. Good luck with the band, keep the axe wailing. Patiently awaiting updates on build also.

I have a friend of mine that I've known for the last 35 years that played the drums.....VERY well and another guy in the same unit that played guitar. Every weekend was a party I can tell ya that. Good times.

Hey guys! Just checking in. Yes, I’m still kicking around. Sorry, no progress to report on this one. I’ve been just crazy busy with other things lately. Life is happening. The music is starting to take shape for one thing. I haven’t been excited about playing much for YEARS, but lately I’ve learned like 8 or 9 new songs in a fairly short time. I haven’t learned that many in the last ten years! It feels great to be excited about music again! 3D printing is also taking a pretty good amount of my time. It’s proving to be a bit challenging. I can successfully print test parts all day long, but when I try printing something useful to modeling, no joy yet. I’ll run a test print, it’ll look perfect, then I’ll try some wheels, and it’ll be an epic failure. I’ll get there though. Perseverance! And lastly (but most important), my daughter is wrapping up grad school. She’ll be moving from Boston to Chicago in a few short weeks. I’ve been working with her on working out the details. She’ll be about three hours from home, so finally we’ll get to see her more than once or twice a year! I do have to say, as a parent, her living in Chicago alone scares the hell out of me..
Sorry for the slightly long winded post. Just wanted to check in let you all know everything is going pretty good here, and I haven’t dropped off the face of the planet. I will get back onto this build as soon as I’m able, and I’m still checking in from time to time. Hope all is going well for all of you. Talk to you soon!

No worries at all. Real life is always getting in the way. It’s certainly been in my way of late. Sounds like you’ve got some good stuff going on though. We’ll be here whenever you feel like getting back!

All those other hobbies take time. The music sounds like a lot of fun.

You have a full list of things going on for sure. As for the music I'm happy for Jeremy( atomicholiday) ! I was just approached about doing an open stage jam sometime in September. Time will tell if that actually happens or not. We will be here when you get back to building again but pm me once once in a while when you can on your bands progress

I hear exactly what you're saying and it's that time of the year where things are starting to warm up outside and folks are out and about. It's really great to hear that your hobby in music is taking off that well and I couldn't be happier for you. 3D printing is currently a foreign concept to me but am getting closer and closer to giving it a try. (just gotta be able to set the money aside for a printer now! LOL) I'm glad to hear that everything is going well with your daughter and that she's moving closer to where you can see her more often. All good news to hear brother. Thank you for the update and we're definitely leaving the light on for you buddy.
