I built that Val, it's a wonderful kit. I punished myself and did not use any decals. You'll really enjoy building it.

Cool. I've got that Val in the stash. The camo caught my eye and I love Japanese subjects.

Oh wow!! That turned out awesome! Beautiful paint work. Glad to hear positive things about the kit.

I remember that build BK. Which green is that? I think my Mr Color IJN green is too dark.

I remember that build BK. Which green is that? I think my Mr Color IJN green is too dark. You might like C124 better, John. Mr Color thinks it is for Mitsubishi. The Hasegawa instructions for the Val kit I built had an option for a dark green Val, for which they called out 95% C124 plus 5% C4 Yellow.

Haven’t had much time at all recently. I hope that changes at some point but who knows. I did find the time to score a couple deals though. You know, on the off chance I get to build a model someday. Lol. I built the VAL 20 years ago. Awesome kit. Hasegawa gets the Japanese subjects right. One of the best parts is the stackable rear canopy

BK this is a fantastic build. The fact the markings are painted is even better

Thanks John. I'll take a look. I've done two green builds (Frank & Raiden) and they just look too dark. I've got a few more Japanese kits in the stash so it's worth exploring.

I remember that build BK. Which green is that? I think my Mr Color IJN green is too dark. I pretty sure it was Mr Color, but which one I don't recall. I don't like to mix paint so it was right out of the bottle. Perhaps 129 or 130. I'd have to find the thread on FSM to see and I can't find it. I likely matched it up to the colors on the paint chart and ran with it.
EDIT: I did some looking around the paint supplies and found a bottle of dark green with no lable. I remember mixing the color for this kit from the kit instructions and I mixed enough that I have some left over. So, the mix the instructions call for is what it is actually painted. Just needed to jog my memory.

My name is Andrew and I LOVE a bargain!! Ok, so the work problems have not stopped me acquiring some new goodies. A 'few' of which are as a direct result of me getting the new job, which I though deserved a treat! These have all arrived in the past couple of weeks. ATB Andrew -------------------------------------------------- First up these, mostly for my newly acquired wargaming kits, plus a couple of bases for display purposes....direct from the manufacturer who on their eBay account intriguingly had 'make an offer' available. So I stuck in cheeky offer at 15% off sale price on 7 items, which were accepted. Nice! However, because they sent the order in two parts, I have only just discovered though that they sent me 2 additional items I never ordered....and for nothing....so the full discount worked out at 32%!! Next up this.....saw it on eBay but wasn't in the market for it and thought it looked like a good price, so did some research. Turns out it was 10% cheaper than any other new Border Pz IV I could find and 15% than cheaper than the next cheapest listing of the same kit. It now means I have one 1/35 kit of most major mid-late war tanks. So last Sunday I was at the de Havilland museum model show....and of course had found out about the new job by then, so I thought I would treat myself. - The Airfix Club kit goes for upwards of £20 or more on eBay, plus it was on sale for the charity that has the only flying Blenheim in the world, so it went to a good cause. - The others were all at least 10% cheaper than I could find online and more if you include my saving on P&P. - The Stuka is a re-pop of the old Fujimi kit, which is apparently very good even by modern standards - and it comes with a canopy mask....and for less than £13. - Fore Hobby are new company and the Scimitar is apparently a very good kit according to both online reviews and a recommendation from someone at the show....and it includes a small bit of sensible PE plus a metal barrel. - Oh and the books were free from one of my club members....I have both F4Fs and a Phantom in the stash. Finally, I have been put onto a Facebook second hand kit auction site by a fellow club member.......not a good idea!! It's a completely lottery as to what kits turn up and how they are bundled but you can get some very good prices, and much cheaper than eBay if you're sensible. My first success was these two bought as a pair....the JP is 2005ish vintage with metal hull but still a nice kit by all accounts. The Nashorn is much newer....c.2021 IIRC. Both are still available to buy new and so it was easy to compare prices. As it turns out buying new would have been a daft decision as these two were 40% cheaper than new and in very good condition!!! I won these two on auction only last weekend and so were another treat for having got my new job. I was only really after the 17cm Kanone but they came as bundle. The AFV kit is still available but the Kanone is long out of production and very had to find and is not cheap - £20 delivered was the cheapest I could find - and that was an eBay auction win. I paid £25 for the pair - 45% cheaper than I could have possibly bought them for elsewhere. So if I decide not to keep the AA kit, I will make quite a bit back through any likely sale.

Oh Andrew...you slay me good sir. . I do exactly the same thing when good news drifts my way.. I hit the hobby shops and celebrate. Love the Typhoon/Spit combo pack even if it's 72nd. I also can't get away from lobing the beautifully ugly Stuka. Nice stash cache mate.

Joe - it is actually a pretty varied collection, given recent purchases....the only problem is, is that I'm running out of space again..... Perry - I was pleased with the Airfix Club kit. It may be a pretty basic Spitfire in it but it goes for quite silly prices on Fleabay, plus helping the charity out was a nice touch - they go to a lot of shows and so I also try to buy something to help them out. Apparently, the markings in this kit are limited editions specific to this release. Was also VERY pleased with the Stuka....apparently a really good kit that came with a canopy mask and all for only just over £12. ATB Andrew

My name is Andrew and I LOVE a bargain!! I'm sure I've said that recently......I really am....... Anyway today was Modelkraft 2024, a large-ish show in my home city, run by one of the cities two model clubs. I was reasonably restrained but did pick up a couple of bargains from the same seller. ATB Andrew ------------------------------------------------------ The FW 190 was only £7 and whilst the odd eBay auction does go for a smidge less than this or around what I paid, you're generally looking at prices approaching £10. I have looked occasionally at this in the past, as it compliments the British bombers in my Hunter's and Hunted collection. However, I have always been put off the price - generally speaking mid-high £20s. They had this for only £20 and even eBay has only one sale below that! I have to say, I am though very impressed with just how much you get in the kit - four (apparently) good quality vehicles, a large oil trailer and a whole host of other stuff.

Oh....and somehow I completely forgot that this arrived about 10 days ago.....I had not taken a picture at the time, hence forgetting about it. This is a brand new and upgraded reissue of 2010 kit (including a 3d printed parts), that I effectively got P&P free thanks to a good initial price, plus a discount I get for supporting the forum managed by the store. Last haul from my favorite LHS before he closes up. Not pictured is also a bunch styrene for possible future needs. Paint, glue, whatever I could find I thought I could use at some point. It was all 30% off. Which shop is that?

Hobbies Unlimited in San Leandro I've been shopping there since the late 80s, but get up there far less often since I left the Bay Area in 1998. The last time I was there was in 2021, and I had a feeling Al's retirement was on the horizon. It didn't sound like he had, had much interest from anybody buying him out to keep the shop going. Sad to see the shop go, it is one of the last old school shops left. Berkeley Ace Hardware has never been the same since moving out of the basement of the old location.

So I had to take a short trip for work today. It brought me past Al's place. Since we had been talking about it I figured what the hell, lets go see if he's still open. He was, and informed me next week will be his last. I am headed out of town next week for 8 days so when I return he would already be closed up once and for all. I'm glad I stopped by. We bs'ed about the shop, and my old job. He was SO busy, which just shows you how much he is valued in the area. Everyone is scrambling to get what they can before the end. I had no reason to buy any of this besides the undercoat for my train diorama. I just couldn't help myself so I spent an hour looking over everything that was left. I grabbed supplies I will at some point need, if not right now. I also stepped out of my race car comfort zone and grabbed a couple of kits. I've seen a lot of amazing stuff like this built here at MSC so I figured why not.. We said our good bye's, shook hands and I wished him a wonderful retirement. From this point on I will probably switch to 100% online with the exception of stopping in at Sheldons in Milpitas as I pass by.

Wow - what a haul! Got these at Andys HHQ site - great deals. The Mustang was on sale for 17.99! I already have a 2013 boss kit but it's molded in green - which is all I could find when they came out. I want to do it as my 2013 boss 302 laguna seca which is school bus yellow. I've read great things about the Bronco kit. And Mr Eaton's impressive antenna wire led me to the uschi thread. EDIT: I thought my other kit was molded in green... it's white just like this one - just the box art is green
