Baa Baa Blacksheep/Blacksheep Squadron perhaps? An old show from 1977-1978 on NBC. Thats the show!! Wow incredible that it was that obvious to find. Thanks! Probably more obvious than you think. For most aircraft there is really only one or two major films / shows where they get to star, in most they are just extras. Ba Ba Black Sheep was for the F4U, what Top Gun was for the F-14 Tomcat.

I was reading comparisons between the BF-109 and FW-190 (power, roll rate etc ) and ran into this book that looked interesting. No pictures though  and only covers US fighters - Corsair, hellcat, wildcat, thunderbolt, mustang & lightning.

“An aeronautical engineers view” - that definitely means, I’m going to regale you with my wisdom and knowledge of the subject thus no pictures included! 🍻

Are you familiar with the youtube channel Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles? He does a lot of comparisons of aircraft, and is a commercial pilot so he actually understands the flight manuals and other documents he works from. Very deep dives into aircraft. He uses the P-47 as sort of his introduction to the concepts, the charts, tables, the effect of altitude, fuel quality, manifold pressure, superchargers vs turbo chargers etc that he uses throughout his comparisons, so has over 8 hours of video just on the P-47. He goes into a ton of detail, but also "shows his work" explaining what all this technobabble means, so it is not just his opinion, he is providing the tools for you follow along and agree or disagree with his opinion. Very rarely just gives you a "trust me I'm a professional" kind of answer. Simply an amazing amount of detail which can be overwhelming at times, but very enlightening and helps to explain why you often see very contrary information, and in many cases proves or disproves the legitimacy of "myths". Completely changed my view of the P47 which is often treated kind of like the bigger hammer solution to fighter design, when in fact it was an extremely advanced high altitude interceptor, just as cutting edge as the as the P38 had been 2 years before. He goes on to look at and compare most other major aircraft used during the war. If you geek out about this stuff enough to work your way through an engineering focused book with no pictures, you might just sit down with a cup of coffee and a snack and go through one of his shorter videos, most seem to run 45min to an hour, but he has some in the 10-30min range. He has some stuff on cars as well, but I'm far more interested in his aircraft stuff.

Good evening all I hope you are all well? So better late than never I thought I'd share my Christmas gifts (below).....I've been waiting for a few to arrive from Poland, hence the delay. ACW as usual Andrew ------------------------------------------------ First up, this from work. In recent years we've been given a hamper.....this year we got the pre-paid debit card pre-loaded with £45! ......which allowed me to treat myself to this! Then of course there was the obligatory chocolate......and believe it or not I only finished the Toblerone earlier this week and haven't even opened the Hotel Chocolat bar!! A for the 'main' gifts, my wife and I agreed to a limit for each of us.....her's is going on a trip to the Big Apple next year......some of mine went on some essentials.... .....with the rest going on some extravagances I would not normally buy. The stowage was actually free as I had a lot of reward points the Polish shop I got it and the barrels from... ...there was though some money still left in my allowance......and so what I'd spent on these just before Christmas from my modelling fund was transferred to my Christmas spend!! However, THE best gift by far was from my teenage daughter......out of her part time pay, she bought four tickets for a family trip to see Michael McIntyre (he's one of the UK's best known comedians in case you've not heard of him). According to his website, he's currently 9 months into a 15 month world-ish tour. We going to see him at one of the UK's largest indoor arenas, in London.....the capacity is 20,000.....and he's doing five nights there alone, which gives you an idea of how big he is.........and more importantly just what a generous gift it was!! Good to see you actively adding Andrew. Very sweet haul. The Airfix Wildcat and Mustang are very nice kits. You always do well in getting the most bang for your buck. A very belated thanks Joe! I was pretty pleased with the Wildcat and Mustang purchases.....even if they officially came out of the Christmas budget and not my personal spend! Thanks to a 25% off offer the hobby store was running and a £5 birthday voucher they send you every year, they were basically half price!!

I got this a few days ago but just unpacked it now. Been fighting a wicked cold all week and really just couldn’t make myself care until today. In an effort to get better pictures of my builds, I picked up this light box. Comes with four different colored backgrounds, and a small tripod. I have some experimenting to do to see what works, but should be fun and get the job done.

I’ve got a problem…. Now that we got that outta the way; here’s my newest haul from my local hobby store: I have never built any armor before, but I saw Tamiya release this one recently and knew I wanted it to be my first one. The ambulance is also a new release from Tamiya.

That's why I picked this one. And it was cheap.

Like Keith Green KreationZ I must admit to having a problem. It's quite clear I can't go to a hobby shop or have access to the internet. Really though, it's not good, I see what I want and I just buy it. Recently my LHS had gotten in some old Accurate Miniatures aircraft kits. I didn't buy any last time I was there. I stayed strong. However, After seeing keyda81's beautiful Avenger and hearing some feedback on AM aircraft from her and some others like TJ and stikpusher in her build thread I had to go back to see what I could find. He had a few different Sturmoviks, a few Yaks, a B-25 and exactly 1 Avenger. So I got a Stormovik and the Avenger inspired by Keyda's build and Carlos's comments on a build he did. I had to check them out when I got home. Very nice looking kits indeed. And inside the Stormovik, a surprise! A free issue of FSM, and a free AM catalogue!! Seriously though, I also picked up this Moebius Hudson Hornet. I've enjoyed the one Moebius kit I've built and this Hornet will be a looker in a factory Hudson color scheme. He also had some unexpected goodies...Some leftover Model Master paints he found in the back. Selling them for 1.50 a piece I went ahead and grabbed a few colors I didn't have. Cheap way to paint a car body. Included this cool purple pearl which was created by Boyd, evidently. Lol. Cool days of modeling. Finally I went into Hobby Lobby to grab some sanding sponges and a can of primer. Sometimes I like to just spray my primer and they normally have a can of mr color or two. And of course, being 40% off week I couldn't leave without this too. The Y-wing is one of my favorite Star Wars "fighters, small bombers?" I don't know. I like the stuff that was extra beat up and the Bandai Y-wing is beautiful so it had to come home with me. Now I'm going to go try to find some Styrene Anonymous classes or something.

I picked up this book on the SR-71 for 40% off. It has ALL the planes and ALL the missions from the birds through their life spans. It is like a coffee table book with tons of huge pics and many many pics of the pit, bays, avionics, skin, etc. So worth having. This will help with mine when I get around to building it.
Also picked up this OLD MPC kit on Evilbay for a good price. Someone started it, but only the engine. The chrome is largely stripped as well, but all the parts are there except one carb. I plan to use a resin 427 anyway, so that's not an issue. The body is great, but the rest of the kit is meh at best. This one should be fun to work over and make it really nice. This was produced in 1981 and the decals are shot, so off to hunt for those. I can always vinyl print some masks if I have to. These are still somewhat easy to find, but not for decent prices. I think this one was cheap due to it being started and bad chrome. Good score.
