Bruce, we are usually our own harshest critics, my old friend.
Always. Always. I pretty much don’t like anything I do. 😂 Have fun doing it though even if something leads me to be disappointed in one aspect or another. Bruce your build process and attention to detail is outstanding and a joy to follow along with.
You hit it when you typed “fun!” Thank you for being able to keep the feelings alive and well. I truly appreciate that!

I’m not in love with my photography, but I put time into adding a CA fill and blending it back into the fuselage so here it is warts and pixels and all. In monochrome the amount of fill is easier to see -
I have a bit to go but I’m wondering if I’ll get there. There was a lot of fill/sand, fill/sand going on! I’m gonna let this harden for a bit then polish it again.
Here’s another 1992 restoration photo -

Your efforts look to have paid off regardless of the photo quality Bruce. I can only imagine how much filling and sanding you had to do and you're right on in waiting for it to harden up so you can work with it better.

Thanks, Joe Silverado! I truly appreciate your words. You’re right - just have to wait for all of those CA coats to cure! Also: just another thank you for teaching me the value of patience with finesse work. You said something along the lines of “it can take weeks to sand something that’s true to form,” and that’s been a real guide to me on every project since then.

Agreed! When working on a troublesome area on a build long enough it becomes easy to start second guessing everything and how it looks. I think you are bringing this build to a great level of detail Bruce! The time you have put into it shows!

Deano and Brent,
Thank you both. I'll take better pictures in the morning before I leave for work, but I sure do appreciate your support. And I'm glad Matt you're following along. I will gladly do the same for you both. I've learned from you, Brett, that I know. Your work has always been very inspiring and your attitude towards model building itself very refreshing. I want to take a moment just to be thankful for how unpretentious and supportive you both are and extend my thanks out to others including, Kyle, Tom, Joe, Mark and Carlos and any others who may be following. I truly appreciate each reply and do my best to be as good as you all are.
PS. I'm not a fan of the iphone 14 Pro. I could do things with the 5 and 6 and 11 I can't seem to do with this thing. I don't know. Maybe I'm just rusty? I took real good portraits of my girlfriend with the 14 but of the Enterprise I feel I am taking ugly pictures. I will try to do better.

Your pictures are fine. It is hard to get those close up details with even the best of equipment.

Thanks, Tom! I haven’t set up my light box because there is no room at the moment.
Hard to see but the edge is built from CA!
You see the amount of correction here -
I would like to do better with photos this time but it’s an honest accounting of my work; I build at a small kitchen table and spray paint in the alley outside.

Nice reference! I plan to add lines after painting in graphite. The molded part shows deep lines which are much too heavy at scale. Also you can see that the shuttle bay doors evolved after the second or third set of changes when the show was picked up as a series -

Thanks, Kyle. My progress is slow, but I am moving ahead... just slowly moving ahead. I did try sketching the shuttle bay doors in pencil. I might try a thin scribed line as well but I think a line drawn with graphite gets the job done. I also think that adding the lines in graphite is similar to what happened with the detailing of the model after the pilot season began... although there is definitely scribing done to the doors on the current miniature. I must think about this!

inch hurriedly, Grasshopper. I wish I had your patience! I’m more like Admiral Farragut…

Lyle always has something to say 🤣

lyle / ceaser / midnightprowler : thanks guys, sincerely. I'm in the midst of the end of the month rush in other areas. I don't want to rush this, Admiral Farragut. I canna' do it.
This is the pilot version.

Wow Bruce, excellent fix! That looks spot on now. And the monochrome shot shows the infinite willingness to do what you have to do to make this right as well as the patience and perseverance to get it done. That is what makes you a Master my friend. You rock! One thing a friend of mine does is lightly scribe lines and then fill with graphite (pencil) and the gently wipe away the excess, leaving extremely thin and visible lines behind.
I am so enjoying this thread Bruce! Keep it coming!
We are modelers - the same in spirit, in hunger to insanely buy newly released kits, hustlers in hiding our stash from our better halves and experts in using garbage as replacements for after-market parts.

Long story moderately short: my girlfriend’s making her thesis film and I went from being a producer to the cinematographer and now she’s recast the lead roles. We shoot this weekend. I have had very little time to devote to this project or be on the forum. In addition, my beloved Aunt passed on March 5, her caregiver suddenly became the “personal representative of her estate,” and has been nothing but an amazing pain in the butt. I can’t seem to make her understand that I didn’t even know I was mentioned in the will. I had to beg for a copy from an attorney I never met who didn’t want me to have one. So I’m trying to stay optimistic and focused but I have had to take a break from all forum activities.
I did find some moonstones at the jewelry store that might work for the E’s Aft Section details.

Sorry to hear about your Aunt, Bruce. I know you’ve got your plate full for the near future. This place will be here when you come back. Take care of the important things.
Carlos
“Awfully sorry old man. We simply landed here by accident.”
Again sorry for your loss my friend. Take care of your yourself and your girlfriend, we will be here when you get on this again. I hope things work out with the estate situation.

You're in my thoughts and prayers Bruce and totally get what you're saying about taking a break. We've got the light on for ya bro.

Bruce, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We understand. This is just a hobby and we’ll be here whenever you feel like dropping in. Get your girlfriends project going and take care, my friend.
