With the modifications you’re making, do you have to take any precautions when working with resin?

With the modifications you’re making, do you have to take any precautions when working with resin? So far, I just make sure everything is clean, measured 3 times, and to attach anything I’ve been using Bob Smith Industries Super Gold CA. As I pictured earlier, you have to be more careful, as it is brittle. Oh, and a mask when grinding. This is my first go at with resin, so it is a learning experience.

That is some supreme scratch work indeed!! Thank you, I’m trying. This is only my second build in about 30 years, so I will get better.

I have a couple resin trans kits in the queue. Will be following your build. :^)

Trunk lid originally measured between .046 an .096 in thickness. This made fitting it a battle. I filed and sanded to a much more even number now , from.0465 to .0653, with the smallest measurement at one corner. On opposite side, I had to add a section of .010 sheet for trunk to seat properly. This will be filled and feathered in.

Your not missing a beat with this! Random thickness on larger resin pieces always seems to be an issue. I really like your fix for the deck lid. Fantastic attention to detail!

How many bodies can you fit in there? In a Demon? Not many. Now the sales brochure for my FRS shows that you can get two in there if you wrap them properly and put the heads in bags beside them.

Either way it would translate to only fitting one the size of my X-wife........ Just barely........With sitting on the lid to get it to latch

Pretty gutzy build, imho, you gotz da cajones to do it. I was wondering about a resin car kit and how delicate it would be and it seems you're right smack dab in the middle of it and handling it well. I'll be watching this build, impressive!
Ruck On, Moparman!

I don't know what to comment on first.....the progress that I see in this build or the totally hilarious comedy that I see going on here. I dang near spit my coffee out reading through this.

It’s definitely keeping it interesting, at moments I keep wondering about my sanity as I think about what to do next. At this point, the scratch building seems like it has just begun.

First, I will never be mistaken for a car guy. But, (you knew that was coming) if you don’t take a bit off of it, you may not be happy. Can you add it back with some styrene should you change your mind?

Does look a touch on the tall side compared to your photo there. A quick filing down wouldn’t go amiss I’d think.

Can you add it back with some styrene should you change your mind? Yes, it would be possible to build it back up with styrene, but that would be a lot more work. The angle of the scoop is pretty much perfect the way it is. I have a bunch more scratch work to do on this one, including using aluminum inside.
