Now there's some pipe fitting! Aluminum is not too good for bending, I've had better success with annealed brass tube, or solid brass rod for tight bends. Thank you.

That deck lid just dropped right into place, hinges and all Rich. Some really fancy foot work there if I do say so myself.

Pretty slick work there on those hinges for the trunk. And I like how you’ve planned everything out. This is continuing to look better and better Thank you Kyle, I’ m hoping it all goes well.

You have been a scratch work building machine since I checked in with this build last. I like the interior mods and cage you've added Thank you. I still have a bunch more scratch work to do on this one. I am definitely venturing into places I’ve never been before.

Thanks Joe. Pretty soon I have to plot carefully areas that have to be painted to go to next steps, lots of masking and unmasking on this one. Looking forward to seeing what you do in these next steps bud. I was not happy with that hinge at all, trunk lid corners kept catching on window ledge. I have been fighting with many different designs ever since. I might have to get much more elaborate for it to work. Has anyone else experienced this( due to no Dutchman panel and slope, sharp corners on lid)?

I am sorry to hear it’s fighting you. Hopefully someone has some ideas on it. I have yet to try to open a trunk so I am useless.

Haven't gone through that yet but I can help by bumping this thread back up to the top Rich so more eyes can see it.

Onward we go. I am using the dash from Duster kit, but need cluster and trim from 72-up, so plenty of X- acto #11 blade action to remove cluster, etc. from newer Dart kit and same elements from Duster dash. This too, will take plenty of grafting.

I love this build. Your attention to the details of the car you’re basing it off of are awesome. And all the detail you’re piling in is great.

Hey Guys, question...has anybody tried using an electric hot cutter for cutting open panels/doors/trunks from models? The soldering irons with an X-acto blade in the head. I've wondered if such a tool works well?

Oh wow! I'm really liking your efforts on the cluster / dash integration Rich. Looking good so far and I'm glad that you've got the trunk lid hinge issue worked out. Model surgery is a way of life for me so I have a great interest in watching projects like this come together. Beautiful work.

I've wondered if such a tool works well? Never tried that, Bryan. I do like Kyle does and scribe the lines with light to medium pressure till I make it through the plastic. I'm kind of leery of a hot knife distorting the plastic. Never tried it but that's the first thought that goes through my head.
