Thank you, I too am looking forward to it. Hopefully, I don’t mess it up, as the first color getting laid down is Candy Fire Red in very fine gradient lines underneath the Candy Tangerine. If I mess it up, I will have to redo everything. I will definitely be using a .02 needle in airbrush.

As for the person driving the other car, yes, the cop let him drive away with no front end left on car, leaking fluids. In NC, it is almost impossible to collect from the clown also. Being an at fault state, my wife just being in the car that he hit, makes her at least 1% at fault, even though she was fully stopped in traffic.

Thankfully, she is ok, but now we are forking out money for rental car and have to pay insurance deductible.

EPIC fail!!! After hours of laying out .4mm fine line tape, putting in the candy red lines, and laying down 5 coats of candy tangerine, .4mm is way too far out of scale. On top of that, when unmasking the fine line, it pulled up the tangerine in several places. I will have to put it aside for a day or two to harden up all the way, then maybe I can tape off the black and scuff the candy mess off. I am just going to skip the silver pinstripe and the candy red under lining next time. On this scale, you would barely see it anyway. On the bright side, the tail panel came out beautifully. 🤬🤬☹️😱

Thanks, I knew it was risky right from the start. At least it is much easier than re stripping a car( been there several times). If it would have worked out, the metallic actually popped in the candy tangerine quite well. I am stripping it right now, IPA 91% on a paper towel is working quite well. It will look like that again pretty soon- minus the silver pinstripe, as I can’t find any tape thinner than .4mm, nor do I want to. That was a real treat pulling those stripes with tape that thin. Another lesson learned

Yes, it is. It certainly isn’t as bad as when I was painting a customer’s 1:1 79 Monte Carlo silver/black two tone, just laid down the black Centari enamel, when a mosquito the size of Godzilla decided to do the backstroke all the way down the center of the hood. I will get over this one much easier.

Thanks Kyle. I will bounce right back on this one. I knew what I was getting into trying to cram all that into a 1:25 scale paint job. It will still look like the car, just won’t have the silver pinstripes.

I give you an A+ for effort! This is a paint job I wouldn't have the guts to try in a million years. I really like the color! I have no doubt that you will pull it out of the fire and have it looking great!

That's quite the scheme you've got going with this one Rich. Hats off to you for giving this one a go and again in dealing with the issues of it along the way. I'm FO SHO looking forward to the recovery efforts and what this beauty will look like once you get everything lined out.

Joe, I used 91% isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel. I did a little at a time, giving it a chance to dry before moving on. I didn’t want to chance anything else, like purple power.

 I haven’t had to strip a resin body yet but have heard that you can’t use PP or brake fluid. Thank you for the info Rich

Much gooder!😁 This way worked out so much better. I sprayed the black first last time so that it would be much easier to come out seamless. It will now take a boat load of clear coats with sanding in between to make it smooth. At least nothing at all peeled up. A little cleanup for the couple tiny bleed through spots, then on to the colors!
