Hey, that’s perfect! Thanks for sharing. How much black do you mix with the Future? Rear window is masked. Depends on what I am using and it is pretty much trial and error. If using craft acrylics it can be as much as a good sized pea to an ounce of Future. It should be completely opaque in the bottle when mixed up.

When you first put it on it will seem excessive but will tone down with a coat of flat or semigloss. Put it on fairly liberally and let the self leveling properties do their job. The less you brush it out the better. If you have too big a puddle in one spot just wipe your brush and touch it. It will wick right up.

You are doing this kit proud! I ahve the 64 version which share a lot fo the same parts.. At least it appears to. It was in so bad a shape I never finished it, and is awaiting a diorama display of a never repaired truck on jack stands in a field haha. Also, thats too bad about the high prices. Sounds like someone from MSC that lives in the US close to the border needs to make a van run with a ton of kits for yall haha.

This was followed by applications of various tinted clears until I arrived at a colour which ended up much darker than my original plan. Plus, I didn't do a great of job masking as I have a fair bit of touch ups to do. I'll chalk it up as a learning experience for next time. Will post a photo after I mess up paint the aluminum rails.

It's either that, battle though the deficiencies, keep it for parts or crush it like a bug. I was browsing a couple retailers online this morning... in fact, $50 is more the starting price for kits... that's a lot of our funny plastic money.

Update: unfortunately the darker colour I ended up with killed much of the wood texture. Lesson learned.

I agree with the consensus, the darker color really pops! I can see the woodgrain perfectly

Well you could give it another coat of the tinted future. Even over the chrome strips it would give a nice accent. If you don't like it then a quick wipe down with some Windex and it would be back the way it is now.

If too glossy a light coat of flat would take it down to a nice semigloss finish and make the wood seem a lighter colour.
