thanks a lot Gary! Luckily for me, it comes like this in the kit: it's colored etch and exist out of multiple layers which you need to glue on top of each other. Thank god I didn't need to paint that, would have scared the crap out of me ;D Cheers LOL ;D ;D ;D It would have scared me too!! I got a Hasegawa Bf 109 G/2 at the model show. I got to paint the panel myself DAMNIT!!! Oh well. I couldnt find an eduard at the show...I tried!! Gary There are no 109G from Eduard, yet But if you wish, and your Hase 109 G-2 is 1/48, you can have this: www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/Bf-109G-2-1-48-1.html?cur=1&listtype=search&searchparam=109%20g-2

Well Gary, I heard great things about the Hasegawa kits though, so you should be good with that. Or otherwise you can buy AM Eduard etch, they have some cockpit goodies for the Hasegawa Me's like this one: I bought my kit straight from their webshop btw, very fast delivery! Hi Andy, thanks bro! I hope it stays this clean ;D. I must admit I hesitated between the Dragon or Cyberhobby Me (cowling can be closed with engine in place!) or the colored etch Eduard kits, and I chose the latter because of the etch indeed...hey mate, join in on the Me club ey Cheers

woutmiester! Looking good! Most 109's had a 37mm in the nose. The office looks awful pretty wrapped up! Can't wait for paint!
Gary I'm with wout on this. If you can holdout and can get the PE for the 109, I think you'll like the end result!

Maybe, I was hoping my first plane build would be either Stuka Ju 87 or P-51 Mustang. ;D Believe it or not I have two plane kits in my stash... they both are 1:35 and they are Piper and Storch. I am afraid they don't sound sexy enough for you my friend? LOL

sorry to read about your back Spud, probably because of carrying all those ordered kits to the basement ey ;D Freakstah!!! thanks a lot mate, and thanks for clearing out on the propellor gun Andy, a Stuka or a Mustang sounds great mate. Piper and Storch don't sound sexy indeed ;D, but on the other hand, it's something completely different, so I'd say: get one out Gary, lookin' forward to the Spit as well dude, should be a stunner (no pressure ey ;D). Gunther Ralls 109 sounds good as well! Cheers

Anytime my friend and thank you for the DAk thingy over on the other thingy!LOL!
Andy I'm with wout with the piper and the storch! If you decide to go the other route I would go with Hasegawa for the Stuka And Tamiya for the Mustang. Just a suggestion.
Gary!!! Post it Post it!

Modelfreak72- Thanks for the head up! I was going to ask which manufacturer makes better Stuka and Tamiya. Now I have the info on my shop list hidden inside my iPhone that my wife can not ever find. (evil laughter)
Wouter- Hope you will be still around when I am ready to build either Piper or Storch. LOL Right now 2013 schedule looks pretty booked for me to add another kit to build. Planning to build another Huey of course! Can't wait to see how your 109 comes out...

Hiya Wouter, the '109 is coming on real nice ;) Those engine panels look like they'll give to a fight, Or am I reading it all wrong. ???
Etch in the office is nice too, did you find it has a blue tone? The panels in the 262 I built did, camera flash made it worse on the pics too. Anyhow.. Nice work buddy 8-)

Freakdude, no prob mate, glad you took the criticism as constructive Andy, well, 2013 sound good for me ;D Steve: about those engine panels, well, I hope not ;D. But the upper one in front of the cockpit is a tight fit indeed, I had to cut some of the interior detail before I could put it in place. And the cockpit panels are blue indeed...now that I come to think of it, not quite like the real stuff Robbo, thanks a lot fella, they are cool indeed jackwagon: thanks gramps, and no I ain't . I'm entering the NP for comp next month, so I have to get her done...I work best with a bit of stress and a deadline it seams, so no axis withdrawal at all ;D Spud, errrm, the stairs of your appartment then? ;D Cheers

Robbo, Boots, jackwagon and Gary, thanks a lot fellas , not as neat and tidy as I wanted though but you guys wanted paint? Well, here's paint! ;D First I degreased the bird using a brush and some Zippo fuel. Works very good, man if I'd known before! After that I gave her a primercoat using Mr. Surfacer 1200 thinned with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner. Preshade followed using semi-gloss black Next: some color flying onto the bird One of the things I don't like when giving a wingy color, is that you need to manipulate the bird a lot more than armor, this means bigger risk to paintdamage: here some of the paint was damaged whilst grabbing the plane. And I even used gloves!!! Need to tidy that up later on Next step: adding the mottling, pretty scary though ;D Cheers

thanks CS, I'll keep that in mind, good tip, because I didn't know how to begin with it. Which pressure do you use for applying mottling? And another question regards chipping: which color to use for that? I assume no primer red? ;D Cheers

You did great job doing pre-shading! Sorry about the scratches... know you will be able to fix it. For us armor guys we get excited when it happens because we consider those battle damages...

CS, thanks for the explanation mate Andy, thanks bro, yeah, such chipping on a tank would have been a lucky shot ;D Hi CSS, thanks mate. This bird is the one of the Kommodore of JagdGeschwader 26: Adolf Galland. I think indeed a bit later during the war the yellownoses of JG26 were referred to by American bomber crews as the Abbeville Boys since a part of JG26 was located at Abbeville, France Cheers
