Un.....frickin'....... believable!! It almost looks like you're rigging an old frigate after seeing all of the rigging that you're having to do on this one. The work that you're putting into this one is just off the charts Dave and I'm sure it requires the patience of Job to pull off right. Simply beautiful outcome so far and you've most certainly got my respect. Thank you kindly Joe! I'm not sure about the patience of Job. There was A LOT of swearing at a couple of points. EZ Line is great to work with but like anything else, it can be a bit quirky at times. I am looking forward to getting the control lines rigged to the empennage. All of those lines are external! Cheers Dave

There has been some progress on the Felixstowe. Things slowed down after we had to let one of our dogs go. There was not much to be done, except let him be at rest and peace. Yeah, that one gutted me. Truly the best dog I have ever had. Last night was kind of a catharsis, in being out at the bench and warmly remembering all of the times he would come out and "check in on me". I'll catch ya on the flip side Cooper. Here's what got done. This is the rigging and control line on the starboard upper wing, looking aft. Here's all the control lines for the empennage.
Now I can start the weathering. Cheers Dave

I know your loss, I miss my Bigalowe. Rigging looks good. Thank you kindly. They are family. The control lines, when I started them gave me fits. The 2 into 1 fittings, though simple, had a bit of a learning curve for myself. It was the application of proper tension on the EZ Line that was the tricky part. Cheers Dave

The bow guns are assembled, but only dry fitted. Weathering to follow. The exterior bomb sight. The dorsal gun is fitted. Kind of an odd set up. The earlier variants had a scarf ring, much the same as the bow guns The beaching trolly. Here is one of the main wheels for the beaching trolly. The base coat is Vallejo Steel. It was followed by a couple different layers of rust effects utilizing hair spray chipping. There are smaller wheels at each end of the trolly. They are painted in the same manner as the main wheels. A test fit of the trolly under the Bird. So far, so good.
Cheers Dave

Spectacular!! You've been chatting with Tiking haven't ya LOL. Beautiful work on the guns too. Thank you kindly! Tiking?! Who or what is a Tiking? I’ve started playing around with AK Interactive Real Colors. That’s what I used to paint the guns. It’s a lacquer based paint, a first for myself. I stumbled across a picture of the bow gun on a Felixstowe, and it looks like the kit is missing a rod that ties the guns together. A detail to be rectified Cheers Dave

Dave,
My condolences on the loss of your dog Cooper. Please forge on, your build looks fabulous. The rollers for the beaching dolly look very realistic.

Dave, My condolences on the loss of your dog Cooper. Please forge on, your build looks fabulous. The rollers for the beaching dolly look very realistic. Thank you kindly for the condolences, and the comments. I have been forging on. Cooper would regularly check in on me at the bench. If I was deep into a process, he would just pass on through. If I was sitting back trying to plot the next few steps, he would gently place his head on my thigh and get pets. The rollers won't be hugely visible, but they will be seen when the base is completed. Cheers Dave

Another incredible update!! As the others have said, those wheels are just next level. But then again, so is the entire build.

Some very good work going on with some of the final rigging, nose gun area and those wheels. Man, you really had me fooled with those wheels as I thought they were metal pieces in the kit until I had a good look at the parts layout and then your description on the painting and weathering up of those pieces.
On a side note, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved dog, Cooper. Those guys have a habit of working their way into our hearts pretty quick and it sure does seem to take the wind out of our sails when we loose 'em. Hang in there brother Dave.

Thank you kindly for the support. Sorry for the delay, work and life have slowed progress on this build of late. Though I did get a rough cut of the base for it. It's 19"x36". This is going to take up some real estate. Cheers Dave
