I must agree about hasegawa. They do have some great subjects and I’ve built a couple of their F1 kits but it is always a bit of a struggle at times. You’re doing a great job beating this into submission. Wonderful update and things are coming together nicely!

Adrian, Agreed, Hasegawa is certainly a step or two below a Tamiya kit but that certainly didn't stop you from laying down one super gloss Red paint job. And it's not even rubbed out yet. I'm really looking forward to following your progress till she crosses the finish line. As a side note, my Tamiya 1/20 scale Williams FW09 that was molded in the very early 1980s is in now way close to what Tamiya is today. But still with a lot of work especially in trying to under their instructions which look more like a Pirate's map with lines and arrows all over the place yet half the time seem to go now where is proving to be a real challenge as well. joel Yes in deed so true Joel, Tamiya's instructions can sometimes look like a treasure map lol ... Hasegawa's are much more simple and straight forward I find, but I never follow them step by step at any rate as so many steps are out of sequence in the way that I build anyway.
I must admit that I truly am enjoying working on this kit at 1/24 scale, everything requires such a light and delicate touch honestly.
After finally getting the red down and to the dark shade that I was hoping for I feel like that step has been accomplished successfully which I am very excited about - even though the white section was affected by the taping - so I now have to fix the white section tonight with a light hit of Tamiya pure white after an extensive re-tape - but honestly I don't mind because I nailed the red which is a victory.
Due to the small amount of decals on this kit I really feel like nailing the paint app and separation of white from red is the area I need to really get right before I start decaling.
Thank you so much for following and for your inspiring words of encouragement my friend

Honestly Hasegawa F1 kits are very different from Tamiya and definitely more difficult. The plastic in general is much softer - the suspension arms literally bend! and the flash/clean up is much greater on every part - and breakage is easy to do just by looking at a part the wrong way - which is why I am super glad I ordered the second kit given how delicate and ill fitting most of the front and rear wing parts are.
I am looking at it as a challenge to try and see if I can slow down, refine and be more delicate at all times with all parts and improve this aspect of my modeling style.

Sorry you had the blues with the paint lifting earlier. Always a heartbreaker to go through on a personal level and to see as an onlooker. You seem to be pulling ahead with this whole build very well and I'm looking forward to the next steps Adrian. Beautiful work man.

I hear what you're saying about not breaking the fragile parts adrian29341. I've had builds that had extensive brittle/ smaller parts and it's always a challenge to get things together without sending parts into neverland when cutting them from the sprues or trying to glue them into place. This is looking good so far and am looking forward to seeing the car body after it comes out of the dryer.

Whose Carbon Gray paint is that? joel This is #2 Joel, I will send you a pic of the paint bottle tonight because my siv of a brain can't remember the exact name at the moment lol The process I used was a primer coat, then this flat black paint, then a thorough layer of Mr. Super Clear Flat. I honestly didn't know what the end result would be, but it was the 'Carbony' look I was after so it was a pleasant suprise!

Very nice update. I also really like the look you’ve achieved on the wheels and undertray.

Adrian, I know that I don't see so good these days, but I searched the pictures and I can't see those cracks. The paint looks perfect to me. And speaking of perfect, that's how the tires came out. And s far as the engine/gearbox assembly not fitting, is that do to the paint and super close quarters?
With your super positive mind set, I'm betting that you can fix just about anything that comes up in your builds.

I also failed to see the cracking and it’s a shame that happened. As Joel said, you’ve got the right attitude here and it’s really going to pay off in the end. From what I can see your paint and decaling is lovely. And the tires and Fondmetal wheels are perfect. Great work there.

It's a shame the crack developed right on the curvature of the body with the decals so close to it. With your skills I have no doubt you'll make it unnoticeable with your repair.

Adrian, Thanks for taking the time to show me the crack. I thought in an earlier picture that was it, but it could have been the way that light was hitting it. I'm looking forward to following your repair every step of the way.
