Ben Honestly the clear coat looks perfect. But up close and personal shows every little spec. The black spec could have been anything including something in the clear.
I have one Grex AB with a .5mm setup dedicated just to clear coats, and keep it boxed, not on a AB holder where any modeling dust pcs can land on it even with the bowl covers on. Has made clear coating way more predictable and repeatable. With that being said, all 3 of my air brushes are Grex Genesis units. the Harbor Freight ones from the few reviews I've seen on them are pretty rough in the bowl machining, and the needles need a lot of polishing but can be brought up to standard. With Black Friday coming up fast, I'm willing to bet that a lot of online model retailers will be running sales.
And BTW, what is your next project going to be?

I was thinking of waiting to see what’s available around Black Friday. I’m building so many cars now, I’d might as well take the plunge and get a dedicated one for clear coats. Next up is Hasegawa’s 92C-V that was just released, although I’ve been dying to build Nunu’s M6 GT3 in PlayStation colors, so this may turn into a dual build once the 911 is done. Ben

Just a quick update. The 3D printed intakes finally arrived from Hong Kong today. The screens are much finer than the stuff provided in the kit. It just takes a couple of minutes to gently cut the parts away from the supports and then a few seconds to glue them into position. Much better than the hour + I spent wrestling with the kit parts. I should be able to finish the model this week. Ben

I just caught up on this again. The intakes look outstanding! Stellar work putting the decals on. Especially the hood!

Thanks! I’m going to try to get the brake lights painted today and then it will just be a matter of gluing 8 more parts on. I’ll make sure to take care of that fingerprint above the door handle, too! Ben

Ben, Those printed intakes look great.
Great choice for the Hasegawa 962c with the separate rear wing. I've got a few of the attached wing kits with Indy Cal decals that I'm planning on doing over the winter, and a few other of their curbside kits as well.

And we're done! I made a new antenna because the kit part is overly thick. This was a fun kit! If you build one, you'll definitely want to get the Fat Frog 3D printed rear fender grills from HobbyEasy. They're drop-in, compared to wrestling with the kit provided screen and duct parts. The only thing I didn't like about the kit is the wheels and tires. The wheels are tapered, as are the tires, the intent being that when you slide the tires onto the wheel, they'll spread out and be tire-shaped. As is is, the outside diameter of the tires is still larger than the inside, which looks weird. This is a problem with all of Nunu's GT kits. Replacements are available from Decalcas through SpotModel. I really like the car but I'm still kind of "meh" about the livery. With two exceptions, the available aftermarket decals are all for cars from the factory team, which were wrapped in relatively boring (IMHO) retro liveries. Obligatory family shot. This car would've been a knockout if they'd gone with the purple pearl they used on the Ford GT. I guess they went with the vintage color from the '60s & '70s. Ben

Ben Just another outstanding build. And for the record I don't think that it's a boring wrap at all.

Thanks, guys! I guess the retro ‘60s scheme does look kinda groovy.

Thanks! I liked the kit so much that I’ll probably get another one if anyone ever releases some decals for some of the 2023 privateer cars. AO Racing’s Rexy, Iron Lynx, or Iron Dames cars had much more interesting liveries. I just realized I forgot the obligatory family shot I mentioned above. Revell Ford GT LM, Nunu 911 RSR, Tamiya AMG GT3. Splash Paint and SK Decals on all three. Ben

It is fun to see how colorful these GT cars have become. It wasn't that long ago when they only came in "plain Jane" liveries

Beautiful 911!! I can't see one of these and not think of Sabine Schmitz. Thanks! I wonder if anyone has ever made decals for any of her cars. I looked for BMW decals after she passed away but couldn’t find any. I’d love to build her 911 GT3 in the photo in this article. I can’t tell if it’s a 997 (Fujimi) or something else. I can’t keep up with all of the versions. Ben
