Thanks guys As predicted i made a mess of the decals the top came out OK but i had trouble with the sides. where the decals were like they were pre stressed and as soon as i slid them off the backing paper they instantly coiled up like a watch spring....... it immediately became pretty obvious i was never going to get them on the side panels either straight or un twisted Oh well this will be a nice 75 Ferrari just not a faithful replica ... Anyway clear coats now on the top so it will need a few days to harden while work on the other panels

Truly stunning work, Paddy.
May I ask about painting the gold leaf at spoke portions of the rims? Did you brush paint them or somehow mask the area? TIA.

Paddy, The paint came out absolutely fantastic. For that matter so does the decaling. For your curling decal issue which I have from time to time I use hot water to soak them in which really helps them relax and lay down. Also brushing on some of the hot water helps as well.

Paddy, The rolling chassis complete with engine/trans/suspension looks just amazing. For me it's the use of so many related Metallics that creates such a strong sense of realism.

Hi Greg If you build this you will find the wheels are in two halves, centre hub and rim so its easy to paint the parts separately. Hi Joel I am learning here so i have made sure the metallics have a matt coat. when scaled down things tend to lose their shine simply because there is less surface to reflect and all shine is just reflection. I also think that metal surfaces dont really have a color, again they reflect other colors so i try and vary the "color" on adjacent panels to give them contrast to each other... Small items like model cars get all the light from one direction and reflect that same light but an object the size of a car gets light from many directions and many different reflections so you need to try and replicate that on small items as it doesnt really happen naturally. I hope that makes sense ? as i say i am learning here so i may actually be completely wrong , i usually am

I'm torn between seeing this as a rolling chassis and having it covered by the absolutely gorgeous paint work you did on the body! Amazing work you are doing on this build.

Very nice work on that Paddy. When you're done, you will be qualified to attempt a 50 yr old Protar T2.

I honestly don't know where to start praising this build. The detail, paint work all done so very perfectly. As I have said with other builds I am genuinely sad to see this end, but WOW what an absolute blue ribbon winner you crafted here!!

paddy, Just a fantastic build period. And all the added details just make it even more special. Agreed that displaying it with the top body panel off is the right way to go.
So what's on your bench now?

Not sure Joel.... I recently bought a very second hand, cheap, already built pocher kit. I could never afford a new one but i wanted to see if i could strip it down and rebuild it ? I dont know if thats even possible or practical but you hear a lot about these kits so i wanted to see what all the fuss is about and if they are really worth 10x the Italeri equivalent. I built the Italeri Bugatti race car a little while ago and i see they have now released it as a road going model with spare wheel, twin windshields and lights etc so i am minded to have a look at one of those while the last build is fresh in my mind. You know how you always think when you finish a build , i could do better next time, once you have worked out the pitfalls and the mistakes you made the first time Thanks for your king comments

Very nice work Paddy. The body fit is as good as you can get with this car. (Even the 1:1 car had fitment issues, lol).
I used 3 sets of Indycals decals to do mine, I don't blame you for leaving the pinstripes off, looks just as good anyway.

I just don’t know what to say as I am at a complete loss for words on yet another one of your fine auto build completions paddy. Just unbelievable work on every part of this car. A real shame about the decals but you MORE than made up for it in all other aspects……especially that rolling chassis!!

I can only echo the sentiments above. What an absolutely stunning build this was. I greatly enjoyed following along with all aspects of it. Gorgeous paint and details throughout. Thanks you very much for joining us in the group build. I will snag a couple of your photos and add them to the completed gallery post.

You don't mess around, you build.
You have done a beautiful job on this. Your workmanship is something to aspire to, and as detailed as the stock kit apparently is, your added details add a lot (to say the least). I learned a lot following this thread, and I thank you for being a part of this GB.
I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Pocher kit. I had the Alfa Romeo as a kid. It was too much for me and I got frustrated and bored with the spoked wheels and hence it went on permanent hold. I was on the hunt for old used Pocher kits for a while, then a friend told me to try the Italarie Alpha, that it is better than Pocher anyway. Hence my interest in your Pocher rebuild project.

Been there done that Greg :-)
Notice i never did get the hood to shut because i made my own ignition wires and they got in the way. the kit rubber wires were at a right angle, and mine came straight out [/a]an important tip if you build any of the Italeri vintage protar models, dont use spirit based washes like MIG on them, it attacks the plastic , causes it to go hard and brittle. you find then that any stressed part like a part with a screw, screwed in that is effectively trying to expand the plastic, will shatter within 24 hours. You can see here where i put just a dab of MIG rust wash on the screws on the leaf spring shackle plates one night and in the morning they had basically shattered.

My goodness gracious those are both gorgeous. Sort of at a loss for words, have never seen either kit look so good, Paddy.
I have the Fiat mefistofele on my shelf, I stumbled upon it at a very good price at Amazon Global UK back in '19 and snatched it up. I will place a note in the box about not using solvent based washes on it, thank you very much.
I keep my eyes out for a good price on the Alfa Romeo. Don't know if I'll ever get around to building either of them, but for whatever reason I'd like to have the both on my shelf at least. Crazy hobby. More accurately, crazy me.
Please don't forget my interest in your Pocher restoration project.
