My goodness gracious those are both gorgeous. Sort of at a loss for words, have never seen either kit look so good, Paddy.
I have the Fiat mefistofele on my shelf, I stumbled upon it at a very good price at Amazon Global UK back in '19 and snatched it up. I will place a note in the box about not using solvent based washes on it, thank you very much.
I keep my eyes out for a good price on the Alfa Romeo. Don't know if I'll ever get around to building either of them, but for whatever reason I'd like to have the both on my shelf at least. Crazy hobby. More accurately, crazy me.
Please don't forget my interest in your Pocher restoration project. Another one you might enjoy, the baby Fiat - another Protar/Italeri re-issue. It's a bit unique.

I keep hanging around you guys, I wonder if I'll go broke or get kilt by my wife first???
I had never heard of or seen this kit. Very interesting! Is this yours? It looks very nicely done.

Yep, mine. I should start a thread on it, not fair to hijack Paddy's.

I love this. I build them as they come out of the factory and Paddy builds them as after the driver has finished beating the crap out of them.
Great job mate!!!

Brilliant Paul i love the factory finish. I have been looking at the new italeri Bugatti 35B but in road spec with lights and spare wheel etc and thinking i might do that as a factory fresh example either in black or British racing green. I think Black would work if i spend enough time on the finish.......trouble is it shows every spec of dust on the shelf ...lol What do you use for shiny metal like on your rocker covers ?

Honestly Paddy I don't remember. It was probably Tamiya TS83 Metallic Silver but I use a lot of Alclad finishes so it might have been one of those. Senior moment, lol.
And I know what you mean about black.

It's a funny thing, the cars are before all of our times and I've never quite understood my attraction to them. But it is there.

I am an engineer and i look at these classic vintage cars as something that men made , welded and sprayed and were cutting edge in their day and were pretty much entirely mechanical.... 90% of modern modern car production is automated and robotic and electronics are replacing mechanicals..... i dont think anyone interested in cars ever looked at a Tesla and said.....cor thats nice...wish i had one of them

I was a toolmaker in the medical research industry for 35 years but spent the last 15 with my own classic ducati parts business, I am retiring at the end of the year so should have more time to build models ...

last time I can remember saying that's one nice car was when I saw my 1st Lotus Elan. of course I was in college and struggled just to buy and keep up my car loan payments for my beloved 1967 MGB. Damn, all these years later and I still wish I had put it in storage way back then, but who knew it would be worth 10 times what I paid for it.

Paddy, With your skill set as a medical tool maker, and then Ducati parts, it explains at least to me where your skills came from to turn that old Tamiya kit into a museum display piece.
As for retiring, I've been retired for nearly 6 years, and to me it's like a vacation that just never ends time wise. But what we've found out that unfortunately as you age, so does your body, and just like cars and Bikes, you need repairs and new parts as time goes on. Still, being retired allows me to do what I can, when I can.

It is really great to get some insight into the backgrounds of some of you who have been so welcoming (and helpful) to newcomer me.
Interesting insight about your engineering background and subsequent interest in these classic cars, Paddy. That may help explain my own interest as I am also an engineer of sorts. (I only completed 2 of 4 yrs of ME, but I have decades of real world experience that hopefully counts for something).
