hi All Boots and T many thanks for the comments, ;D Bit of a change of plan, as i said before i have seen different pics of the lion on the helmet, some where the lion has a mane and some where it doesnt, I had assumed that the lion on the original had had the mane worn off, HOWEVER after a bit more research and a phone call to a nice woman at canterbury catherdral it turns out the lion had NO mane So ill be busy filing and sanding the mane away, pics to follow later Paul

Hi jackwagon To be honest i hadnt thought of that idea either, ill have a go at the milliput crown and see how that goes, but the foil crown might be a better idea ............and dont call me shirley.. Paul

OH thats great youve let the cat out of the bag now, How would i do a photo etched crown ? the only thing i can think of is just to supply alu foil with the kit and the buyer would have to make their own, not difficult i grant you, but just wondering if theres a better way.... Paul

Hi all Chris thanks ill send him a pm, ive looked at different ways to do photo etching you can even get a photo etch kit ;D Anyway this is the lion as it stands, mane shaved off and shaped, the mouth has been opened and teeth added, i did add a tongue but it was so fine it kept breaking so that is something that will definately have to be added with foil, and of course the crown, its not bad but is something that could be improved on so it will stay for now and i will keep trying other ways And finally a pic with it sat in the hand, i also finished shaping the hand and added some rivets to the plates All for now Paul

Hi All Cheers Boots, ill probably be getting tips from you after christmas, def know number 2 son has got me a tamyia F1 mclaren car...... ;D Well ive been doing the other arm and the coif, which was the chainmail hood, tried it first with super sculpy but after i fired it it lost some of the detail, so redid it with milliput. I had difficulty getting the hood part to look right, so i made a hood then folded it down.....Der The inside of the coif was lined with leather so more detail will be added after this dries. Also finished the left hand poldron, im only doing the left arm to just past the elbow all for now Paul

Hi All Thanks for the comments guys. Ive found some 6mm steel tubing in Wickes so ill be making another crown shortly, the sword belt has been finished using milliput and the embossing and buckle are made from stretched spru, ive also positioned the right arm in the finished position and filled in under the arm pits The next big problem is the surcoat. this had quarters of fleur de lys and lions which would have been embroidered on, so would be slightly raised. As i see it i have 3 choices 1......let the modeller paint them on 2......try to make the shapes and then fix them on 3......transfers, but where to get them HELP !!!!!!!!! all for now Paul

Hi All thanks for the comments guys, I had a small piece of foil left and spent and hour trying to make a fleure de lys, in fact after 4 attempts i gave up, it was just tooooooo small to cut out and the lion was worse. So my next attempt was in milliput, i pushed the milliput onto the body then cut a square out and then shaped the fleure de lys with a fine blade, also did the same with the lion. when it had gone off i sanded them down to a good thickness and then shaped them some more, finally adding some detail with a sculpting tool. both of these took and hour and a half to complete so i think it will be a while before the surcoat is finished, still its not a race let me know what you think Paul

Hi All First of all i just want to wish everyone a happy and peaceful christmas and a prosperous new year ;D Just a quick update, ive been slugging away at the heraldry on the surcoat, and also added a couple of straps either side that would hold the 2 halves of the breast plate together The bottom lion has just been started so ill have to wait for the milliput to go off before adding the detail. all for now Paul
