Hi All Well thats chrimbo finished and through the vast amounts of turkey and cider ive managed to get a bit of bench time. Ive finished the front part of the surcoat apart from some tidying up. The 3 lines from the top, in heraldic terms, means son of, as you all know from your history lessons, cos you were all paying attention, his father was Edward the III, this was his coat of arms and his son just knicked it and put the 3 bars on it. there would actually be a bar accross the top but as its under the coif ive not bothered to put it on. Just the back to go then the left arm to finish Paul

Hi Frank, just reading about magic sculp, it says that it can only be painted with water based paints, so i dont think i could use it as i use oils,

Hi All jackwagon sounds about right for the legal side of things, move slow, charge a fortune Well i dont know if this is anything new to anybody but ive never seen it before. I wasnt really happy with the fleur de lys, they looked ok but i think they could be better. So in the Range today i found this, its heat shrink plastic, basically you cut yr shape out of the plastic, put it in the oven and it shrinks, if you know about it great but why havnt you told me Anyway heres a couple of pics, the first is the pattern thats 24mm long, i then transfered it to the plastic, cooked it and it comes out perfect at 8mm long and also the perfect shape I might even chenge the lion aswell. only 15 to make Paul

Hi All Frank, its called "shrink art" and comes in sheets or blocks. jackwagon good thinking. you could make it huge then shrink it, imagine the detail you could put in it. apparently you can paint it before shrinking and the painting stays the same when shrunk Boots cheers buddy, havnt even thought about the car yet, ive looked in the box and shut it again 28ten excellent mate how did you do that, Paul

Hi All thanks for the comments guys, most appreciated ive just been experimenting with this plastic, ive managed to get a belt buckle made at 3mm long. the only problem with this is the thickness, as the plastic shrinks it becomes thicker so this would have to be cut thinner, or filed ill see if i can get them any smaller Paul

Hi All Cheers jackwagon. im sure you and my missis are talking cos thats just what she said Anyway turns out you were both right and its eventually cured, so heres a few pics of how it looks at the mo this is with the mold turned upside down and the plastercine removed, it came out very easy because of the release agent Ive then added some plastercine tubes for pouring the resin. one to the bottom of the piece and an air release coming out of the top Finally added some more lego bricks, which are a great thing to use to make the box, and poured the WELL mixed silicone rubber on the top. All for now Paul

Hi All Well after several anxious hours ive finaly cast the first parts in resin. The head has come out spot on, the arm is not tooo bad, i didnt quite line up the two halves of the mold so there is a bit of a ridge on the top part, and also the thumb is part missing and a hole in the back of the poldron. nothing that a decent modeller couldnt sort, but not what im after Still not bad for a first effort. the whole figure will be finished soon so ill post some more pics then Paul
