thanks a lot lads! Time for an update it seems ey Finally, I could continue with the groundwork today. Bought me yesterday a 25 kilo bag of sand for the tremendous price of 1,70 €. Should last me a long time for making pieces of groundwork. I mixed some polyfilla with sand and Tamiya Buff. I applied it to the base, and after an hour or so I gently pressed the T-62 into the groundwork to make sure she would sit properly. Also, I discovered Mike Rinaldi's oil paint rendering technique and tried it a bit. It's hard to see on the photo's probably but I tried to created some more tonal variety to the paintwork. The fuel bins got a treatment as well. Shots aren't the best, but here goes When finished I removed the T-62 and dropped the turret...the bin broke off and on some small parts (especially the gun barrel) some pieces of paint came loose showing the bare metal again...oh well, nothing I can't fixed, but figures ey... Cheers

Wow, that looks great, one observation if I may Wouts?
You might try adding some sand to the lower part of the tracks and on the hull and turret, sand blows around a lot in the desert....heheh
Really nice model, and painting!

Wouter, Here's a photo of an Egyptian tank from the 1973 war(Concord Publications "Tank Battles of the Mid-East Wars" (1) 1948-1973.....there was no single standardized Egyptian camoflage pattern but this one at least has some writing on the turret. Sorry, I cropped out a little of the writing under the photo but you can make out the words ... The red/green rectangle might be a tactical symbol, this was painted on the turret before the numbers.... Hope this helps, Paul

Paul, sorry for the late reply, but thanks anyway, both for the help on the insignia and the fact that you like it well, finally an update...nearing completion ^^ I gave the tracks a wash with MIG Beach Sand mixed with water. A day latr - when dry, I brushed the excess off. I also added the T-62 to the base and added some polyfilla, mixed with sand and Vallejo Iraqi Sand. And I also added some streaks on the front glacis using AK Streaking Grime As you can see the streaking is quite subtle on the photo You can clearly see that the turret bin on the back is missing, thanks to the tank drop Polifilla was still wet when I took these shots. Hope to get a bit more texturing in it, maybe some Tamiya texture paint and additional sand tomorrow Cheers

whehey, glad you gents like it so far Well, still not finished though I thought some of the sand grain was too rough, so I decided to add a layer of Tamiya Texture paint. It already got a nice sandy desert color as well. Not completely dry in the photos. I also made a bit of work of the broken tow cable: gave it a wash with MIG light rust wash, and while still wet I dabbed some MIG rust pigments in it. Also, the tow cable had was chipped using a sponge and AK chipping color of their rust set. the front fender and the turret bin have bin glued on again as well. Still need to cover up some bare metal chips on the gun barrel due to the drop. And I defo need a decent background for the bigger stuff, 'cause this one ain't working for me... Cheers
