jackwagon, many LOLs back at ya mate, and thanks ^^ Bill, Rob, Dupes, BJ and T, thanks fellas, glad you like the sandbox I gave the base a light wash today to pop out some more details: used thinned Vallejo flat brown, since the base for the groundwork consists out of florists' foam, I didn't want to take any risk using oils or enamels thinned with mineral spirits. After the wash the base turned out a bit too brown, so off I went and played with pigments. Can't say I find pigs easy to work with in general (except for rusty stuff, and even that ain't 100% foolproof), but I think it's ok. For the sand I applied MIG Beach sand here and there (resulting in a 'patchy' sandbox, which I think makes it less monotone). I also added some MIG black smoke and rust pigments on the groundwork at the area where the tank burned out. For the remains of the burned rubber wheels I added MIG ashes white. Some beach sand pigs were applied to the tank as well. This photo clearly shows there's still some work to be done: look at the area where the sand meets the tracks at the back...there's still some kind of gap : So, that's it for today, any suggestion or missed details, please let me know And if someone could explain me how I can add a sunny sky background using Photoshop Elements, it would be cool ^^ Cheers

Nice work on the tones and variation, definitely adds more depth to the sand box. I kept thinking along the same lines of 'needs more cowbell' in regards to the sand dilemma you're facing with the tracks.

In case you didn't know... Wouter got married last weekend and he is probably on honeymoon at this moment. No need to share horror stories of being married... it has been good for me so far.

Nice to see you making more progress on this one Wouts! I can see what you mean on the left side. Perhaps you could 'drift' up some more sand against those areas? The front edge looks just a little too elevated, at least in the camera angle you've shot it at.

Looking great there Wouts!! A real looker!!! Kind of thinking what Bill mentioned! Build up the front a bit and just feather it out away from the tracks maybe.

Tiny but nice progress, Wouts I think you can adapt russian troops and tankers to depict egyptians, just in case.

I don't think I will ever get tired of looking at your wrecked T-62. Looked around for IDF figures like you... looks like all are for modern era. Looking at many images taken during Israeli-Arab War I was surprised to see so many Israeli soldiers wearing no helmet... so just get a head set from Hornet and put on either American GI from Vietnam War era or something like that. This is my fav pic I have seen so far... Hell yeah, I am bored at work so I thought I'd have fun to look around. LOL

Anyone remember this one? Three years this wrecked tank has been sitting on the shelf. Never was quite happy with the groundwork and I think she lacked a bit of character, so I'm busy trying to revive this one. Cheers

I don't, but it's looking good - I'll have to have a proper read, hoping there's an SBS for the rust effects...had an idea for a little vignette where I need that.
