Thank you Sir. I hated to stop last night, but after working a midnight shift from Thurs night to Fri AM and them tweezers beginning to quadruple on me I figured it was time to stop before I broke something. Ah, you know how it goes, carry on past bed time and have to go back and fix it later, lol. I'm gonna love retirement, sniffin paint and gluin them fingers together, HA! Thx for watchin. Cheers, Ski.

This weekend I continued with the fork and fenders to the wiring of the head lamp and prep'd the wheels for installation. I also coated the seats to give a rougher look, but did not tear them or cut into the covering. I still need to add the rivet heads in the rear of each seat as well. The wiring was a challenge given that my sausage fingers get in the way and the carpet Monster consumes so much of my work, lol. At any rate I'm trying to keep the momentum going. Holler if yall see anything needing attention and thx for watchin Guys. Cheers, Ski. Most of the parts that will be installed. That head lamps has been modified further, not just reconfiguring the clamp, but also the cover has been recessesed to its correct dimension. These wires were a pain to install and I'm not quite sure I have them right still. Oh well, I'll get that straightened out soon. Copper strips are used to clamp the throttle cables together. Small copper clamps were added against the frame and drilled, then a piece of stretched sprue was added and touched with a hot Xacto knife, filed and smoothed to simulate the screw heads. I still need to visit a train supply store to acquire supper small micro screws and nuts. Left side view of the wiring, etc coming along the fork frame. The drive shaft supplied is by no means accurate and requires some retooling, so the sprue is ready for working. That shaft has a tapered portion on each end with keyways which are not done with any accuracy. So, I'll break out the file and fabricate the correct configuration. Not clearly visible is the wheel well contact points which required extensive filing to bring it into a more workable and accurate configuration. There's still lots to do before the final wheel installation. Thx for watchin Gents. Cheers, Ski.

Thx Guys,
Looking over some pics it appears I have the clutch cable on top of the plug wire whereas it should be under, minor fix, right side. I'm going back over tons of pics to ensure I don't exclude the obvious. The brake line from the front rotor hooks up to the right handle bar and the other line goes to the head lamp. What a strange set up. I'll have to do more research, doesn't sound right to me.
Thx again for watchin. Cheers, Ski.

Thx Gents, I greatly appreciate the compliments. The brake and speedo cables are actually a bit small per scale, but I'm gonna run with em. I recon after a few coats of XF-1 they will bloom a bit.
I finished the exhaust with tons of Mig's pigments and I think it's looking pretty decent. Sorry, no pics yet, still adding a few bits of detail. I'll get those pics up beginning next week.
I did find a great weathered 1:1 scale BMW R75 reference that is crusty and rusty and is just what I'm looking for, color and all close enough. I'll get that up too once I find who get's credit for the pic, or put it up for discussion purposes only, as it will be anyway.
Thx again for the kind words Guys. Cheers, Ski.

Ok, I had to parade the Dynamic Duo before we get too far into the weathering stage. It's amazing just how heavy the Italeri Harley is compared to the Dragon BMW R75. There really isn't much left to install on the Beemer, but the weight difference is impressive. I do believe this is the case in full scale as well.
Not being a modern Harley fan particularly, but a crotch rocket kinda guy, I do prefer the lighter, faster, more agile, yank and bank rigs, lol. In fact, I still have my original KZ750L3 I bought back in 83, the Black Widow. Ok, back on topic, HA!
Anyway, both rigs still need plenty of details to close them out before moving on to the figures and structures. Hopefully I can get these two done before the snow melt.
Thx for watchin. Cheers, Ski.

Leon, Steve, Bull,
Thx guys. That was the first time I had the two together since the start of this beast of a dio. I like the Harley so much more than the beemer that I'd rather have the beemer as the damaged subject, but that would throw the whole story for a loop. Thx for watchin and more to follw soon.
Cheers, Ski.

steve those look like you could climb on and ride off into the sunset. outstanding work. joe Not yet Joe, but hopefully soon enough. I've been reading Rinaldi's weathering book and always seem to forget his basic principles. But, now with the book in hand I'm going to attempt to make these rigs as close to life as best I can. Thx for watchin Bro. Cheers, Ski. P.S. I did manage to get the pipes on the Beemer done, I'll post this week if I can get to it before Friday.

Hi Ski
As per usual superb attention to detail. The wiring and plumbing you've added is top notch.
Can't wait to more on the figures.

Thx Prof, Joe,
I parked the beemer behind glass for now, it's figure time. One thing I don't miss about resin is the dust, yuk! I'm going thru the fitting process and fixing any anomalies.
Thx for watchin. Cheers, Ski.

Over Ambition!!! Talk about over ambition, well I sure did. After laying out the two bikes and figures for a basic overview it has become quite apparent to me, and my wife, that I have overstepped my bounds and can not include them all on one base. I know, I know, call me late for supper, but I sure the heck was gonna try. At the 200mm scale it's a bit of an over task to try to pull this off unless I make a curio cabinet specifically for this HUGE dio. The Mrs. would have my head on a platter, to say the least. So, what's the solution? Two vignettes, simple enough, right? Now I have two vignettes vs. one big huge dio. There was just no way to include everything I wanted and keep a proper perspective, distance and conveyance of reality. Nothing wrong with thinking big, but reality sets in and it can be a bummer. I now have a basic layout for each set of figures and rigs and will continue on with both at roughly the same time. After doing some research I have found some really cool pics everyone may find useful if the desire for more reference pics of decaying structures is down your alley. I can still incorporate Chuck Doan's method of weathered wood and realistic structures (building materials) keeping in step with the reality of Normandy style barns, cottages, etc. Check em out if you wish, great pics of the real deal. kathydalwood.blogspot.com/2013/02/collapsing-cottages-normandy.htmlI'm continuing on with the figures right now; the bikes are behind glass for safe keeping. I'll post pics as soon as I get further along in the oiler process. Thx for watching Guys. Cheers, Ski.
