Hello guys, More than two years ago I started the build of Bronco's Comet A34. Bronco's box art : Bronco's after market aluminium barrel : Voyager's fender photo etched set : Legend's turret detail set : Friul tracks. Prototype of the Comet : Only for reference purposes. Final version : Only for reference purposes. The version I build is an MK I A. Here's a small impression of the build. I had to scratch here and there to correct or to complete the model. Currently I'm finishing the build and I want to start the painting soon. Best regards. G.

spud mate, it was extremely difficult to get a good reference source on the MKI A. A lot of things were changed between its presentation in '44 and the 50's (Korea war). I had to check and double check my references, part of the fun of course... I look forward to start the painting.

bigjohn, you won't have to wait long, tomorrow I'll spray on a thin layer of Tamiya surface primer.
wouter, it was a fun build, the only somewhat dissapointing experience was to discover the inaccuracies of some of the after market products. For example the turret hatches had to be a bit more rounded. It was to late to rework them (if you don't know the Comet turret you'll never notice !) so I focussed on other details and improved these if necessary.
T, taking pics to show the progress is another part of the fun my friend !
jack, I did a lot to build a convincing Comet, but I'm sure rivet counters can kick the hell out of my Comet ! No big deal, I did what my 'skills' offered me.
john, I look forward to it as well mate !
DickyF, it was no matter of laziness my friend, the focus became too big and I just needed something else to build before the painting and weathering stages of the Comet, I'm glad you say this one is worth the effort.

Guy: I didn't notice the hatches thing indeed ^^ Now that I come thinking of it: are you going to enter this one in the Naked Kit category on Flanders Modelling Contest? You'll defo beat my Panther F with this baby Cheers

Wout my friend, no I move on straightforward now and start priming stuff this afternoon, turret first ! That's why I build, with one reason : to paint ! Your naked kit's unbeatable !

DickyF, thanks fella, there's a bunch of materials involved and I'm glad to cover these up with paint. I did as good as possible but your builds are really clean and flawless, I can take lessons from you. Painting is my favorite thing, it will take months to finish it and I don't really care (I must be mad ). tony, thanks man ! T, the airbrush spits fire bro ! Pics soon, nothing important yet, primers and layers of black ! Panzerace007, thanks ! I do it for the painting and the weathering ! richardoram, in fact I planned an out of the box build for it...then I bought the alu gun barrel, Voyager came up with fenders so I had to have 'em...the Comet was great to build, 100% fun ! I can recommend this one.

andy, thank you, the scratchwork wasn't that hard to do, I took my time and I must admit that sometimes I had to try again ! This won't be my last Comet I build, I've found some lovely pics of a range target Comet ! So Bronco will sell me another kit for sure...

Nice work Guy, hope to see some more progress soon ^^
How do you get the background so nice and smooth? Certain settings in photoshop?
Cheers

Wout, that's a setting in photoshop (colors) indeed. I click on the background area and it turns white.

Rob, now it's time to spray on the first layer of green, I hope things work out well for it's a long time ago I painted Allied armor. The details will be more visible once the greens are done and washes are applied.
Boots, yes mate, it's time to roll on with this project, it was set aside for a long time, I'm afraid it's now or never (the stash you know...).
Robbo, I've been searching a build log of your Comet and I've found one too, I must say congrats to you for it's a very nice looking Comet ! I like the dusty appearance of your model !
Dicky, applying the Tamiya Surface primer is in my opinion always pretty tricky for its dusty grain if not thinned and sprayed on with care. Luckily details are still there !
tread, thanks, I spent a whole lot of time in the build and the extra detailing with plastic sheet and Evergreen stuff (I'm not a skilled scratch builder as some of the fellas are on the forum). I did the best I could at that time.
tonylee, I'm an old man too mate, let's unite !
Tomorrow the green will be applied. I mixed these colors for the base green : - 3 parts Olive green, - 2 parts Nato green, - 1 part Dark yellow, - 1 part Dark green, - 2 parts Clear for a satin look. - Laquer thinner for a kinda milky viscosity.
Thanks to you for the supportive words !
Best regards ! G.
