;)Thank you guys, most appreciated ! Today I have three pics of the Comet so far. Still a lot to do however... The AK Winter streaking stuff worked great, I love the products of this brand. Anyway, pic time : Best regards ! G.

well that's becoming a beauty ey (well, she actually already was one ;D). Shade of the color is very impressive, as well as the current weathering. I'm jalous ;D ;D ;D

Wouter, it was a 'soft' colour modulation paint job, thanks for the compliment !

I like that, mine is usual soft as well. I think it suits this build as well. I can appreciate a heavier modulation as well, as long as the weathering tones it down a bit, but I'm more a fan of subtlety like this one...except for mud jobs of course ;D

Very nice layering effect going on here...really adds to the monochrome color scheme and turns it into an eye-catcher!

Thanks Bill, I'm looking forward now to paint and make some stowage stuff to tune it. Also a typical English camo netting will be added in a later stage, I still have to think over things...

Robbo, thanks ! I will build another Comet in the future, not many builders go for it, strange...
bullardino, I don't know mate, there's still so much to be done. Thanks !
Dan, I miss so many threads and updates my friend, I understand ! There's never enough time to see everything !

You rock guys ! This gives me the boost I need ! Yesterday I sprayed on a couple of Humbrol enamel paint layers of a pale rust tone. Today I've given the tracks a wash of AK track rust pigments. More follows tomorrow... Best reg's ! G.

Today was a day filled with rain, thunder and lighting, more rain, and yes even more rain !!! No problem here, the garden can wait... ...modelling time for this Guy ! The gun mantlet cover got my attention. I still have much to brush on this one, but as oils dry slowly I do it step by step and only by applying thin paint to avoid a greasy, glossy mess. I then gave the wheels a good pigment treatment, using a range of AK products. My goal was to obtain an interesting bunch of wheels. Pigments : Gulf war sand, Europe earth for the dry zones, and Dark mud for the wet and greasy areas. Powders were sealed with pigment fixer. Tomorrow more, hope you still like the Comet adventures of this Belgian. Best reg's, Guy.

Looking good Guy! I'd say you achieved your objective with the wheels. None look out of place but all have some subtle differences that add to the visual depth.

mmm...lovely, just how a build should be. Very nice mud and dust stuff on the wheels mate, love it!
jackwagon: by referring to Tintin: do you mean the actual comic book figure or me? With all those nicknames you got for me it starts to get confusing ;D ;D ;D
Keep up the good work Guy!
Cheers

Thanks Dicky, the mantlet cover still needs attention. I will add several green filters to obtain the color of the real thing. This is such a 1/1 cover : ONLY FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES. Wbill, thanks bro ! The insides of the wheels were finished too : In one of Rob's tips'n tricks threads I found this one very useful : to create the greasy, grimy layers as seen around axles and on wheels, Engine grime (AK) can be applied followed by Dark mud pigments dabbed in by a soft brush. Best regards ! G. ps again the weather's cloudy and rainy so the track finishing will be posted later on.

Nice update again, hard to keep up mate ;D
well that's something I usually fail to do: weather the inside of the wheels ;D, but it's actually nice to know they are even if you can't see it. Nice trick on the grimey stuff as well!
Cheers

Wouter, thanks my friend ! It's only a matter of sprinkling pig's and wetting them with Fixer/Engine oil/Grease and oil stain mixture/...
I like to experiment on the areas which won't be seen by others Wout. Luckily this went quite well.

Very nice looking wheels G. The grease/pigs does add to the overall effects ey. I used a similar tech on the Roller. I did the opposite. I applied heavy pigs, then oil/grease and then repeated the process.
Looking forward to more bud.

bullardino, thanks man ! eastrock, here's more ! Rob, yeah, simple but so effective, a great find ! I must try the opposite too, is there a difference in the result ? I also mixed Engine grime with engine oil to create slightly other tones and a gloss appearance. Here's an impression of the tracks, they're not done...I try to create dry areas as well as drying spots... Best reg's ! G.

G, it's basically the same but I add two or more layers for build up. I too use the engine grime with the oil and will also add dark wash for NATO tanks. A dark brown/black mix of oils will do the same as the NATO wash.
tracks are looking superb G.
