Hello again gents, after some Dodge dropping now it's time to concentrate on the Comet tank again. I've applied a 'dirty' oil paint wash as a fresh start. Best regards ! G.

I like it. The green looks pleasantly uneven, looking forward to seeing more

bullardino, thanks ! The pic doesn't show the tonal differences as they really are, I'm glad you've seen them !

I agree mate, the green has a very nice shade. I can only imagine that it looks even better in the flesh. As you said camera's don't capture every subtlety. Nevertheless, this looks great!
Cheers

bullardino, thanks ! The pic doesn't show the tonal differences as they really are, I'm glad you've seen them ! I know, I had the same issue with my firefly. That's why I developed a new way of looking at the pictures of green tanks.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like the green tones. Still a lot to do however... Actually I'm adding a time consuming soft pinwash. Next to do is brushing/sponging on some minor paint damage as the Comets went to Germany when war was practically over. Celerity tank had fender damages, that's also something to play with.

Nothing wrong with taking things slowly, pin wash is adding some nice depth and making the details "pop".

Rossco, thanks mate ! ChrisS, thanks, I find adding pinwashes always one of the most important things for it's the start of aging a vehicle. It has a lot of influence on the following soft drybrushing sessions. Dicky, the build was very educational and in the raw it had something nice too, but as a paint/pigment/wash/filter/dirt/dust/mud/rust addict I didn't have a choice. Doing this part of the project is like being in heaven to me, really, the smell of all those paints, thinners...make my day ! You don't have to paint at all, the white stuff you show us is magic on its own !!! That's why I'm probably your biggest fan on the planet. wbill, thanks my friend, you're right, I prefer to build up things slowly and with care. bigjohn, I'm glad the Comet's on the roll again and it won't stop until it crosses the German border LOL. ::)Now here's the issue I'm dealing with : As Comets only arrived in Belgium in late '44 (Ypres-Aarschot) and went into Germany in a later stage of the war, they weren't involved in heavy tank battles. So here's my question : what with the paint chipping part of this one Maybe it's better to go for a moreless accurate appearance and avoid severe chipping... What do you guys think ?

Hi Guy: First of all: this is looking great! What do you use for the pinwashes? Second: about the chipping: well, there's much debate about this. I know German armour didn't last long at the later stages of the war so heavy chipping isn't really realistic. I guess that counts for the allied stuff as well. HOWEVER: I think some chipping adds extra interest to a model. Adding chipping to my Elefant brought me much joy (I used Adam Wilders method and it was much easier than I initially thought, turned out ok) and I think it brought the model a bit more to life. So, it depends what you want: do you want to depect an ultrarealistic vehicle: I'd say, don't go too heavy on the chipping; maybe here and there on the hatches and where the crew mounted the vehicle. If you don't want to do it too realistic but make it an even bigger weatherfest, I'd say: go crazy (without overacting of course ;D) In any case I think it will look great! Cheers

Thanks my good friend, I share your opinion. Applying just a little chippings around hatches and on grab handles can add that little extra to it, without going to far of course.

Hi guys, I'm working on the turret now. The spare track parts were painted a first time and AK winter streaking grime works well on the greens. I want to make it look interesting without adding tons of chipped paint. Best regards, thanks for watching ! G.

You're welcome guys ! It's not easy to keep up the standards here, you're a real bunch of professional modelers and I'm so glad I can show you the progress of my builds ! I'm 100% sure I now have three awards for my Dodge thanks to you and MSCF ! I've learnt a lot since I got here.

Buy one Martyn, I can recommend it. An aluminum barrel is worth every penny since the two halves of the kit barrel aren't up to todays standards.

Need to build 80 kits per year until I'm 100 to deplete my stash. Maybe I should sell a couple.

Nice work...don't see this kit built up all that often, which I think is a shame. Looks great when done up right like this!
