Just a quick pic of the hull before I start the dirt and dust effects. I finished all the chipping and well as some rust staining. I also chipped the 88 , but no pic of that yet. Will try to get the earth effects on later today and will post it up as a slide show.

Hey John, thanks bud. Having fun with this still. have to find a couple of hours to bang out the earth effects. Will start with some basee dust using Tamiya acrylics....or will try out the True-earth acrylics.....or Badger acrylics.....decisions decisions !!

Since the updates on this build are slow I decided to do another SBS and this time with the AK earth effects. This is similar to what I did on my JSU 152 but without the white wash. The images show what I did so I what go too much into the how. Just a quick run down for you. Tamiya buff and brown for a base dust coat. This was thinned 50% and misted on. I started with lighter earth tones including rain marks. The rain marks are good for dust streaks, but also to blend the dust, like a filter. I let each color air dry for about ten minutes, then stumped it with a very damp soft brush. This blends the edges and avoids tide marks. This was done with each earth color. I finished with some dark earth pigments. This is just a simple and effective technique and you can add to it, like clumped earth. Which is what will be done on the lower hull. [photobucket]http://s58.photobucket.com/albums/g241/newenglandcountryliving/scratchmod%20slide%20show/?action=view¤t=2661a04b.pbw[/photobucket] I'll get the rest of the tank done and then post those pics. Here is what the 88 looks like so far. As always, stay tuned for more.

For those unfamiliar with this slide show stuff. if you put your cursor over the slide show, it will pause it. At the lower right corner you can go back-stop- and go forward. I can change the speed, yet, so this is the best I can do for right now.

keep forgetting the holes...thanks jackwagon. go for it mate, it's fun and easy to do. Andy, thanks dude. It's so easy to do with the AK stuff. You can do the same with oils, but then you have the drying time.

Great looking work there Rob, you really bring the subject to life. Are we going to see this one at ValleyCon by chance? Cheers, Thom

Always a pleasure to hear nice feedback from you all. Thank you
Minor setback......I didn't screw the lid on my fav color, DAK wash, and spilled the whole lot on the work bench. I recovered a bit but not enough to finish the lower and rear hull. I mixed other colors and pigments but the color is a bit off. Will redo some of the earth effects to get it right.
So what did we learn today.....screw the damn caps when done or moving things around in my case.
Should have this done by Sunday I hope. Tracks will wait until I get some AM metal tracks. Thinking of doing a small base for this !!!!!!

yeah guys, real bummer because it's my favorite wash. I did the same thing not long ago with the panzer gray streaking.....looked like blood all over the bench.

I experienced the same sh*t Rob, as long as the paint or wash didn't flood your model it isn't the end of the world. Spilling Tamiya Extra Thin glue is what I did recently, man the smell !!! I almost tripped when cleaning up the mess !

Cement is worse G....stinks too much. I can order more from AK so it's no biggie. Just wasted time cleaning brushes and the bench that's all. Will be back at the KV tomorrow.
