HOLY COW! It was not even painted when I hit the road two weeks ago. You work fast but yet your quality work is still superior especially the paint job. Can't wait to see it completed...

Thanks for the kind words everybody!!! You are all very kind. Chris - Im depicting the Hurricane as it would be in the 2 or 3 days after D-Day, so it wont be filthy...but it will be kinda dusty. ;D Thanks you guys, Gary

Hey fellas, This is about as dirty as its gonna get. I still need some work on the turret and need to dirty up the side hull and boggies. I dont have a lick of 1/48 stowage so ill have to be creative with some apoxie sculpt tarps and tissue paper bed rolls and the like. Wish me luck! ;D By bbd468 at 2012-07-11 By bbd468 at 2012-07-11 By bbd468 at 2012-07-11 Thanks for looking! Gary

Looks just right from here Gary, enough dust to look well-travelled but not enough to obscure the fine work you've done on the markings and shading.

Hiya Fellas! Thank you so much gentlemen, for the kind words and comments. I appreciate it alot fellas. Dicky, lack of funds causes me alot of greif when it comes to getting extra goodies for the kits i build. So, ill have to (once again) rough it one the stowage. Ill come up with something. ;D ;D The Dust effects steaks were made from pigments and the overall dust effect was made with Tamiya Buff thinned heavily and airbrushed. The fuel stains and some darker streaks are made with Raw Umber oil paint. I thought it would be kinda cool to put the 1/48 in perspective poseing it by my Sherman 105mm and a 1/72nd Panther D. im just getting started. Give a better look at the size for anyone thinking of trying a 1/48 scale kit. By bbd468 at 2012-07-11 By bbd468 at 2012-07-11 Thanks for looking fellas. Gary

Hey Spud, That dust effect is very simple. Mix a little of your desired dust color with thinner and air brush it on. It's a very thin mixture, more like dirty looking thinner.
I fill my air brush bottle with thinner, stir my color with and old paint brush handle, then move the handle over to the bottle full of thinner, and then stir it.
It will sneak up on ya though, you have to apply a coat and let it thoroughly dry because it get lighter as it dries. It can be easy to over do if you try to build up the color all at once.
I can see that Gary has done an outstanding job with this one.

Thanks fellas! Andy, i was abit worried i might have overdone the dirty considering im trying for a couple days into Normandy. But i think it will be ok. I finally got the tracks on and will finish out the bottom half. I still need to do some painting on the tracks. Ill got back and graphite the MG's and weather the tools. Im still unsure about the stowage situation. I may leave it off. Oh, i dont know. Got plenty-o-time to decide. By bbd468 at 2012-07-12 By bbd468 at 2012-07-12 Thanks for looking fellas! Gary

Looks like you have a good handle on the tracks.
In my IMO, I think it looks just fine with out any stowage.

Thanks brother John!!! Im glad you said that as im really leaning towards leaving the stowage off. Im not 100% sure but because i wont have ant proper scale Musset bags, satchels and the like im not sur it would be convincing with dummy crates tucked under a tarp. Anyways, thanks my friend! Thanks Spud! i appreciate that. Gary
