Nice work Gary, and neat primerwork. Which primer do you use?
Cheers

The build is completed and its time for primer and paint. I was disapointed to see that the tracks dont fit properly. Both sides are a half link short. Ill have to tinker with them to get a proper fit. But ill mess with it later. Very nice job, Gary I had the same issue with the tracks, but forcing them in place pressing with a finger almost solved it.

Hello Gentlemen, Thanks you guys, i appreciate the nice words. Wouter - I use Tamiya Liquid Surface Primer heavily thinned with lacquer thinner in AB. It lays down silky smooth and bites into the plastic perfectly. I never have any peeling issues with tape or the like. Luigi - It didnt quite get close enough for my liking when i tried the same thing. Im gonna paint the tracks seperate so ill be able to make adjustments before i paint them. Gary

Hey Gentlemen, John, the wait is over! I started with a slightly lightened OD but i didnt like it. It seemed extra dark in 1/48 scale so i lightened it heavily with Dark yellow and heres what i got. BTW, the black on the bottom of the turret was a water proof coating used on D-Day. Too bad i dont have wadeing stacks as well. Wow! What you have there is something special! The pre-shading shows through PERFECTLY and that basecoat colour that you have made looks beautiful. I currently have a 1/35 Dragon Firefly and still, after much research on the basecoat colour I'm still This colour is great - the bronze tone from the Dark Yellow is ideal. Could you please let me know what your original mixture was including ratios when mixing etc and what you did when you switched to adding Dark Yellow? Many thanks, Ben

Could you please let me know what your original mixture was including ratios when mixing etc and what you did when you switched to adding Dark Yellow? Many thanks, Ben Hello Ben, Well, ill do my best Ben as i dont really measure anything. Im a site and feel painter. I can say for sure that i always spray my paints on the thin side for more control over transparency and thickness. All my paints i airbrush are Tamiya thinned with Lacquer thinner. A good reference ratio would probably start with 60% thinner and 40% paint but its even thinner than that by the time im on my last pass. I started with approx. 80% OD green and 20% dark yellow. After a good pass i didnt like it. It was gonna be way too dark. By the time i got the color i wanted i would say it was more 50%/50% OD to DY. I also add Tamiya gloss clear in the overall mix. not alot but enough to make a satin look and it helps the surface to stay silky smooth when done. Man, i hope that makes some sence Ben. ;D If you need more info dont hesitate bud, ill help all i can. Good luck man! Tony - Thats the best compliment ive had in a long time! Thanks Man. ;D Brother John - Thanks man. I was hopeing you would approve. You got them shermans covered brother. Gary

Hey thanks fellas!!! I was definately worried about it being too dark in 1/48 scale. Its borderline too light now but after decals and flat, a couple filters of raw umber will fix her right up. Gary

Hey Gary, will the futer give it a high gloss, or will it be more of a satin finish?

Hey Gary, will the futer give it a high gloss, or will it be more of a satin finish? Dicky - Thanks for the kind word man! Hey John, The future will be very glossy for the decal application and for pin washes to flow easily. Ill apply the decals and let it dry 24hrs. and seal them with a shot of future and then pinwashes. Gary
